Religious:
thanks Nurmanator. I guess what I was asking was the opposite. I'm getting the impression that the school may be "too" religious for me. Is there a heavy religious influence? Are students expected to go to church regularly? Is prayer a part of everyday life? thanks for your input

I don't think this place is overly religious either. There is no daily prayer or such. While there is a weekly mass, you're not expected to attend. I've seen situations where the two roommates have totally different beliefs and it doesn't interfere with their way of living.

hey guys,
I'm a high school senior from Bulgaria and I'm facing a dilemma: I've been accepted with good financial aid to IWU and Clark Unievrsity, and I just don't know which one to choose, since I'm not able to visit.

I want to be involved in strong academic program in international relations, international studies, foreign languages and in the mean time take part actively in music ensembles and courses.
I have heard that Bloomington is greatly boring town, but is it easy to get to Chicago from time to time?
PLEASE, if you have opinion and more information about that, share it here! THANK YOU!!!!

hey veselcheto, I'm an international student studying at IWU. While yes, Bloomington is a quite boring town, especially for me (I came from Hong Kong), I don't spend that much time around the town. I spend a lot more time with my friends. For a trip to Chicago, I can either get on a bus (Peoria Charter) for $23 one way (it takes 3 hours) or on Amtrak for $14 on weekdays and $30? on weekends (3.5-4 hours). I am majoring in biology and philosophy, however, I've taken several foreign language and music classes. They are all outstanding. I'm taking a Japanese class this semester and it is so much fun: learning grammar and slang, singing J-pop songs, etc.

Thanx, Nurmanator

do you know something about the International Studies and Political Scince major?

and in general, is IWU a famous school with a good reputation in the usa? How are the career services there?

I do know that international studies is a popular major here at IWU, especially with its study abroad programs such as Pembroke (a joint program with Oxford) and Spain. I'm not sure about political science major. Career service center is awesome. I subscribe to their weekly email update, so I can be notified if there is a job interview or internship program coming up. In overall, IWU has a great reputation in the States; however like other LACs, it lacks the diversity. About 90 to 95% of the students come from Illinois.

Hey all, I would love to hear your decision.

My son mailed his decision card on Saturday - he's going to IWU. We are very happy as both his dad and I are very impressed with the school. He spent last Thursday there going to classes, having lunch with other kids in musical theater and attended a play rehearsal. Everyone was so warm and welcoming and he was impressed with the talent level of the students. He also had a chance to sit down and talk with the head of the musical theater department who was really encouraging and informative. Thanks for all the information, nurmanator. And as soon as he gets his housing papers, he's going to sign up for Ferguson.

Baymom, I'm very glad to hear that. =)... Hopefully your son will enjoy the Wesleyan experience (a.k.a. Titan Pride). In the meantime, good luck for his semester and enjoy. Cheers!

congrats to all accepted! I am also going to IWU and hope to talk to you all!
