Anyone attend High Point's Scholarship weekend?

No FA letters yet - how about housing information?

nothing yet - eagerly awaiting...

My son received information on housing in the mail last weekend.

The only FA information received was asking for info on selective service and copies of taxes.

FA office indicated they mailed another batch of packages out on Friday, March 13, so watch for the mailman/woman.

We haven't recv'd any housing for FA pkgs yet. We are up in Mass though, so mail could take a little longer. Or maybe because I couldn't get my taxes to them until March 10th. I hope it's soon, we're all chomping at the bit to figure it out.

We are in NC and did receive housing information. Have not done anything with it yet as, my son has not made a final decision. Down to 2 schools. I don't think the housing is chosen by when you go on line and make requests. I believe they base it on the deposit date received. Therefore, we are holding off for now.

Well, we got our pkg today. We got no aid except for the $7k scholarship $$. So, even w/a stafford loan there's no way we can afford it. Our EFC was a little over 10k & this would cost us double that, so there's no way she can go here. So,basically they met about 30% of our need. It's too bad, she would have loved it. All we hope for is that Clemson gives us more than that, or she gets into Duke or Wake.

Ours wasn't enough either bballcourt and I'm not convinced it's worth the debt load. The 7% comprehensive fee increase this year seems a bit extreme given the economy, but relative to private schools in other areas of the country it's still a good bit less. Looks like Clemson for my son, and I'm actually pretty happy about that. Best of luck.

Sorry that the money was not there. This is one reason that my son is not going to apply. They meet on average only 55% of financial need for incoming freshmen. Here is my source:

Student Aid on the Web

hobie1
have you heard anything from Clemson re: finaid? My D was accepted there & we always thought that would be the best fit, but we have to wait & see the $$.

Well we got another envelope in the mail from HPU today. Exactly the same as yesterdays, but this sheet lists her Scholarship, a need based grant & the stafford loan. All the rest of the paperwork is exactly the same as what we got yesterday. It's as if they realized they forgot to fill in some stuff. So, now HPU is back on the list. We would have liked another 3-4K a year in aid, but with possibly her grandparents chipping that little bit in, she can do it! She'll be so happy when she gets home from school!

My daughter received her FA package today. We knew she would only be offered her scholarship plus the stafford loans. Time for some decision making! How did everyone else make out?

My D received her package last week. With the scholarship and a grant, they actually met 65% of our need, which is high for HPU. Of course, if they count the $5500 in loans that all students are offered, they can say they met 90%. Our problem is our son will be a senior, and then our EFC will double, so the grant will be gone. (even if we are helping supporting him in grad school, right?)

I'm with hobie1 as far as debt load is concerned. Do you think HPU is worth 20k out of pocket next year, and then probably $27-32k a year for the next 3? And possibly $2k a year extra if you can't get into standard housing?

What are your daughters other options?

We’re still waiting for the FA package and getting more anxious by the day. We met the March 1st FAFSA deadline but not by much. For those who have already received their packages when did you submit your FAFSA? I keep trying to resist the urge to contact the FA office - I know it will get here eventually but the wait is killing me.
