Anyone Auditioning March 24th?

my D will be auditioning march 24th…anyone else? is there any info.(from previous auditioners)that we need to know?how long were you there?BFA in MT…thanks for any info

I'll be there March 24! I was suppose to have already auditioned there but I got hit with mono (greattt timing right?), so I'll be there next weekend :)

mum2four,

Do you have any specific questions about the audition?

I was there from about 8:30-2. I think the audition ran longer than it was supposed to. There's also an information session and a few short performances. They split all the kids auditioning into their majors, and then the faculty talks to the students and parents about the program and lets you ask questions. Then they give you a vocal warm up, and you audition individually. They asked me to do all 3 of my songs, as was the case with all the auditioners, I'm pretty sure. Then there is a sightsinging test. It's not too hard but if you've never had sightsinging before it can be kind of scary...but I don't think that it's too big of a deal because I didn't do too well on it and I got in, haha...there is a short interview that's very relaxed, no pressure at all...then after everyone's done singing and acting there is a group dance audition, and then you can leave after that. They have campus tours and you can eat in the cafeteria after you audition.

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask! I love answering questions. :)

Best of luck to your D (and to you! I know how stressed my parents are for me...heehee.)

mum2four-
definately check out "old town". Very quaint part of Winchester. There are places to eat, shops, ect. Shenandoah is located very close (walking distance!!) to many resturants, stores, mall....ect. We enjoying going down to Winchester...and we get to see our d as an added bonus!!! :) Enjoy your visit. The people at Shenandoah are absolutely wonderful!!! Keep us informed! Best wishes to you and your d!!

canadianactress, did you mean they asked to hear all 3 of your entire songs or just the 16 or 32 bars requested??

managy and notfromme, thanks for all of the great advise...you are appreciated

mum2four,
I meant that they want to hear the 16 or 32 bar cuts of all three songs. I know that some schools ask you to prepare 3 or 4 songs, but choose which ones they want you to sing when you get there.

Unfortunately, I didn't have a lot of time to spend in Winchester when I was there. I hardly got to see the town at all. (But I may be going back to see it again if it becomes a serious option.) I did eat at a very good Italian restaurant though. I can't remember the name, I think it started with a C...maybe Mikey or one of the other students knows what I'm talking about, haha...I've also heard that Old Town is nice.
I hope you have a great trip!

canadianactress,o.k....got it..thanks
