I am currently a freshman in the Nursing program and I would be glad to answer any questions about the program, chances of getting in, transferring, whatever! Feel free to ask away! You can message me here or privately! I am open to anything.
How is the nursing program different from the normal curriculum one would take at Rutgers?
Great question! Regarding Rutgers overall, each specific school has a different curriculum as well as each major having a different curriculum. What I love about the nursing program here at RU is that for entering high school graduates, it is a 4 year baccalaureate program with a solid 4 year-curriculum that you MUST follow in order to graduate. Along with the solid curriculum, the courses are all challenging in their own way. I know that the specific schools such as Business, Engineering, Pharmacy have their set curriculum, but for schools like SEBS and SAS they are not so specific. As a nursing student, you are already beginning your career as a nurse in this 4-year program.
You can check out the curriculum here: http://nursing.rutgers.edu/students/curriculumarchive/RevNBCurriculum.pdf
is this program the one in the camden campus??
This program is the one for the New Brunswick Campus. Newark and New Brunswick work together for for their nursing programs. Camden on the other hand has their own thing going on. So I would recommened Newark and New Brunswick over camden.
How difficult is it to get into rutgers nursing program?
New Brunswick accepted an approximate total of 70 out of about 3800 applicants for the class of 2019. It is a tough program to get into. Which is one of the reasons we are one of the top 50 nursing schools in the world. MANY students are wait-listed. To be accepted first-hand, you need to have high gpa, high sat/act, great essay, etc. I was wait-listed, but later got accepted. If you have any questions pertaining to specifics that the admissions like, don’t hesitate to ask.
Sorry, I’m so late to this post. I am currently a sophomore in the Drexel nursing program and am in the process of applying to Rutgers. I understand that it is a major risk to apply with the purpose of doing a school to school transfer into the nursing program but I believe it’s a risk I’m willing to take. I was wondering if you knew how many people successfully transferred into the nursing program. I know you haven’t taken any clinicals yet so I won’t ask you specific questions about them. How large are the class sizes and do you think the nursing program is so big that it’s difficult to really get to know your professors and classmates?
I messaged you @LaurenAJ456
Hi,
Just heard that I am on the wait list at RU Newark Nursing program. Is there anything that I can do to increase my chances of getting in? I really want to go. I am in state. Any suggestions?
@chuela1 Hey!
So I was wait-listed as well, and with my competitive stats, i emailed them a heartfelt reason for why i think i belong in the school of nursing. and they accepted me in 3 days. But some who emailed were lucky, some were not. The issue is that i recommend checking daily IF YOU KNOW YOUR STATS ARE GREAT, because most of my class are wait-listed students, and they either emailed or kept checking. But I recommend emailing. Email newarkadmissions@ugadm.rutgers.edu
Just for some perspective, I got admitted into the Rutgers nursing program New Brunswick. I am from North Jersey, am caucasian and go to a public high school. I have a 3.4 gpa (unweighted) and got a 27 on my ACT. I took AP Spanish and Human Geography. I am an EMT, volunteer in my local hospital ER, secretary of the student body, 4 year varsity field hockey and swimmer, and 6 year region band member (french horn), volunteer with catholic charities, etc. My grades and test scores are not the highest, but my advice is to do what you love. In the end, if you are passionate about the extra curricular activities and programs you are involved with, colleges will notice. Good luck!
@blumec congrats!
My Stats are similar to @blumec 's. (By the way, congrats with the acceptance! :D) I am asian and go to a public school in central jersey (near NB). I have a 3.44 GPA (unweighted) and a 1320 in the SAT. I took Anatomy and Physiology I and 2 and Calculus H. I volunteered at the library which usually had me taking care of children. I was in marching band for 5 years, Jazz for 1 and concert band for 2 in HS. I was section leader in MB in 10th, VP in writing club 9th and German club 11th and President in 12th for German club. I am involved with a lot of clubs (GASP, Psych). However I was wait listed. Which really sucks but at least it’s not a out right rejection. Is there any way to make RU notice me? I felt despite not having spectacular grades I had a lot of clubs and leadership positions to make up for it?
