Nursing transfer

Hey guys. I’m a freshman in the School of Arts and Sciences and at the end of this semester when I have my full 24 credits, I’m looking into transferring into the Nursing program (hopefully, because I know how difficult it is). Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about this program? I know it’s an extremely competitive program due to the limited spaces they have for students. I’m conflicted right now because if I don’t get into the nursing program for Fall 2015, I don’t know if I should continue being a student here and continue taking classes and paying a ton of money to not be in the program that I want to be in. Any advice? If I don’t get in, should I continue as a student here and re-apply next spring semester? I’ve been looking into it and the community college near me offers a BSN program with Rutgers where I can attend community college and receive my Nursing bachelor’s degree from Rutgers. I obviously know being in a Nursing program at a four year is better than a two year, but considering costs and time, I don’t know if I should waste another year paying all this money. Anyone have any advice? Thanks!

Hi Jlsstudent96
I am not able to answer your question, but which community college offers BSN program with rutgers? My kid is thinking about nursing, but I doubt she can get into Rutgers nursing

Hey, this may be a bit late but I transferred into the nursing program in New Brunswick. I spent a year at county college first due to financial issues and completed some prereqs such as anatomy and physiology 1 and 2. Then, I spent a year at SAS completing more prerqs including chemistry of life and nutrition and health. When I applied for school-to-school transfer for the nursing program I had a 3.85 GPA. I’m not sure if you want to know any other stats. I got in as a sophomore so I lost a year but I’m okay with that since Rutgers has an excellent nursing program. I will start clinicals in the Fall. Reapplying or not would really depend on your grades and the reason for not getting in. I know a couple of students who did not get in even after applying twice so they are majoring in public health and applying to an accelerated BSN program after they graduate. Another option is transferring to another college that accepts students directly into the nursing program such as TCNJ. I live in New Brunswick so Rutgers was my top choice.
