Did anyone dislike high school, but love Duke? I didn't like high school too much and will be a freshman at Duke next year.

I’m sure you’ll like it better when you realize you can schedule classes so you never wake up before noon and can go out 4 nights a week. I definitely did.

You’ll find a group of people in college who are interested in anything that you are interested in. There are many, many people who feel happier and more connected in college.
Have you tried reaching out to any student groups yet?
I see a thread below reaching out to freshman who might have an interest in mock trial…

First semester this year for me:

One class on Friday

Earliest class at 11:40 every day except Thursday (10:30 or something) hahaha.

done by 4:00 pm every day

I like college already :p

Cool stuff. Hookem, do you have facebook?

ive heard that duke students tend to form cliques and self segregate. how true is this?

^A lot of these rumors are due to Duke life in the past (and I mean over 10something years ago). I don’t see more cliques or segregation at Duke than at any other school.

plbro81: that is true to some extent. There is alot of diversity on campus, but not much socioeconomic integration. The greek system is practically all-white (except for all-Asian and all-black frats/sororities that don’t interact at all with the white frats/sororities). Thus, groups tend to be very culturally homogeneous. The friends you make, though, will be diverse. You’ll see groups of 2-3 with different kinds of people, but you won’t find any groups of 6+ with much diversity, unless they’re a study group.
