when does that open up again?

august 8. still dunno which hour. anyone knows the hour?

I got into all my classes with the exception of writing where I got into the backup.

i plan on majoring in comm and didn't get it! English with Faulkner? I'm not trying to mess with him.

I did get psych and spanish, but no writing seminar. I need a couple drops and adds.

does the add/drop period start at 12:01 AM EST on the 8th?

I got everything except the lecture of Econ001 (only got the recitation).

Nobody ever knows what time things will open on Penn inTouch.. sometimes things start at midnight, other times they get put up at COMPLETELY random times. Also, the whole system shuts down every night from like 2-6 AM or something, so beware.

Also, if it does reopen at midnight, don't expect that you'll be able to get all the classes you need simply by being the first one to log on. If you didn't get a class, that means it is full. Until somebody drops it, a spot will not open up for you. Persistence is key, not being first in line.

Edited to add: People will drop classes... I, for one, decided to completely switch my major this summer (last night actually, heh) and am going to completely revamp my fall schedule. I will not be alone, I assure you. Just keep checking PiT, right up through the end of add/drop.

thanks. very helpful. :)

i got all my first choices YEAH WHAT NOW I OWN YOU IN YOUR FACE

for once penn decided to NOT screw me over! <3
(housing, on the other hnd, is a different story..haha)

it seems as if most wharton ppl got, on avg, 4/5 of their classes, cuz they're mostly big lectures? and mgmt was already taken care of...

Awaiting add/drop...

same same ...

same!!! its soo weird though, alot of people on this messageboard and Pennster didn't seem to get into a writing/freshman seminar..!! I wonder who the other lucky ones are!!!

hardheadedchild- eh. Don't worry about comm. You've got until Spring Sophomore year to take one of the intros and two other courses.

I was able to get my writing seminar but not my freshman seminar

I didnt get one wrt seminar even though they were the first four spots on my list.

During add/drop period, can u sign up for a writing seminar, and THEN drop the class u don't want, OR do u have to drop what ever class u dont want first????

Since your CU's are capped, you'll probably have to drop first, then add. However, you can do a "Conditional Add/Drop" on Penn inTouch, where you put in the class you want to add and the class you want to drop, and it will execute the add/drop ONLY if you can get into the class you want to add. That way there is no fear that somebody will take your spot in the class you're already in only to find out you can't get the class you want.

how easy is it to switch math lectures? from 11-12 to 1-2? is that do-able?

It depends. I was taking 104 last spring, and there were three sections offered. Two of the professors were not known as being good at all, and the third was generally well-liked. I got one of the bad profs, and I checked Penn inTouch probably 3 times a day from when I got my schedule in the fall all the way through add/drop. A spot FINALLY opened up in the good prof's class on the LAST day of the add period. I'm sure in other semesters though, and if there are more than one good professor teaching, it would be easier to switch around.
