Wow...personally I think that would be awesome (although not socially ... but hey other BU students will be there, right?)

wow, they room you in a hotel? I think that's pretty awesome.

Its usually just for a couple of weeks or months until rooms open up. All the kids are grouped together so there is a social life and kids you meet in dorms will like to visit your room since its so much nicer. Plus you have maid srrvice, your own bathroom. The Hyat is a 5 minute walk. Its right near the BU Boathouse along the river so you have a quick scenic walk to campus plus they'll have a BU Shuttle running.

I know of one transfer kid already who is deciding to do an apt. with other Sophs. so as these spots open up so will the dorm rooms. Its also possible you'll hear by the end of Aug. that a regular dorm room has opened up for you. Its a little disconcerting to be in the hotel when you didn't plan for it but you'll see, the hotel lobby will be full of BU kids in the same situation. This apparently happens in big schools where it is difficult to predict numbers accurately. It costs BU a fortune so they have a vested interst in getting you to a dorm ASAP and will likely be more generous toward letting Sophs who change their mind and want to go in on an apt. to get out of their BU dorm committment since they need the dorm rooms.

I stayed in the Hyatt once over spring break and absolutely hated it. It's a lovely hotel, but there's nothing nearby--Kendall Square is a fifteen-twenty minute walk away and campus is ten minutes. It's very inconvenient and it is an absolutely terrible situation to be in during the winter (I remember trying to walk over the bridge during a mini-hail storm to get food...).

That said, you'll adapt to it and still have a great time--don't let it bother you too much.
