College essays are so that admissions officers can see your personality or parts of you that can’t be seen or shown through ur grades and stats, but so much of my life has been focused on making sure my grades and stats were good, which i didnt even do successfully lmao, that i really dont have much personality left outside of that
I felt this way last year going through this process. I would recommend you brainstorom ideas of things that set you apart from your friends ie Cultural background, summer trips, hobbies, talents, etc. Once you have this list you’ll see that you’re not as boring as you think and you actually have a lot to write about to make yourself seem really interesting to the schools you apply to.
You know what? Your best friends don’t love you for your grades. Your grandma doesn’t love you for your grades. Your parents don’t love you for your grades (though I’ll concede, sometimes we forget to make that clear.) Your next door neighbor doesn’t love you for your grades, and neither does the boss of your part time job.
What do these people love about you?? What experiences along the way have made you the person that all these people love, in spite of your grades?
There’s your essay.
I am having the same problem. But when I think I have a good idea, it just comes out wrong on paper. Ugh. But reading topics to NOT do is always helpful. Hope you find inspiration soon!
