Anyone else get contacted by CAAAN?

I was contacted by a Cornell Alumni that wanted to meet up if I had any questions? Supposedly this is provided by Cornell's Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network.

some are contacted, some aren't - it tends to depend on if your high school guidance counselor notifies the CAAAN association that you're applying to Cornell.

Lol, my counselor hasn't even sent in my rec yet -- I doubt she notified them that I'm applying to Cornell...

cornell notifies the alumni wherever you are and it's up to them to decide what they want to do. the alumni in my city even hosted a nice get together with food for people who got accepted into cornell

Your high school counselor does not contact the Alum Ambassadors - Cornell central admissions lets the local CAAAN groups know who applied in their region and the local regional volunteer chair allocates the contact names to the alum volunteers. The local interviews are only conducted in areas that have active alum groups. Even in those areas, it is dependent on how organized the volunteer organization is, and how responsible the volunteer who received the assignment is. Also, do not feel insecure if you have not received a call for an interview - it will not impact your chance for admission.
