Anyone else in love with a completely unattainable college/university?

Damn you, Eli, and your reasonable, well-adjusted goals!
Seriously, though, congrats and good luck :)

Stanford. My dad first convinced me to consider applying, and for some reason I was a little wary. But we went on a visit last summer, and it was PERFECT. It was the first and only time I’ve ever thought “this place is perfect and I really want to go here”. My stats fit well within their range, so I’m crossing my fingers and counting the hours until Dec 15th. I understand its unlikely I’ll get in though, and I’m also applying to several more attainable schools I also really liked.

Stanford.
Yale.

You know, the typical.

Notre dame. My heart aches in my relative mediocrity. I don’t want to just admire from afar anymore.,

Honestly, what does this matter?
Who cares, I mean right now this is all that we care about, it seems like life and death. But I urge all of you to keep things in perspective. This is just another school, with added benefit only because you get to brag to peers. Take out the social rewards, and college isn’t nearly as flashy as we’ve built it up to be in .

I am guilty of the same and would feel really terrible if I didn’t get into Duke (ED), but life goes on. And as I say there are so, so many more important things in life than where you went for your undergrad schooling. Don’t get too attached to a school.

^ truth

10char

I would really like to go to Berkeley, and I have the grades/scores/app, but I am OOS, and my parents would not want to pay because they would not get FA. So I must find another, cheaper school.

George Washington  i mean i might get in crosses fingers knock on wood but its beyond ridiculously expensive for no reason at all

Ugh YES! I wanna go to brown. Head they have a good fencing program and IR program. But I need to distinguish my self more. Need to be more of a leader.

Sorry heard.

Columbia. My brother goes there but it is still a major reach for me.

Wow, sucks about everyone’s siblings/parents already having gone to these places. I don’t think I could deal with that kind of pressure  I suppose you get legacy, though, which is a plus.

I’m in love with Johns Hopkins, Tufts, and Oberlin, but I’m not sure how much of a chance I have. Boohoo, life.

Harvard JHU and MIT…

Harvard and Penn…I’m going to be going to one for graduate school, so I’m not too bummed…

Lol like so many others, I grew up dreaming of Harvard…
I maintained all A’s since starting school, but that doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of what is required for admission. I am not even applying as a white male. Might as well save the $75 application fee and put it towards a school I have a chance at… No real hooks just kills chances.

Wow, that’s quite a diverse range of schools, Marisashana. What program are you looking at?
And yikes, Harvard seems to be popular on this thread–way out of my league. I really do wish you guys all the best of luck!

bump? kind of nice knowing I’m not alone!

I’m into biochem, possibly genetics–I’ve heard all three of those schools have excellent science programs.

University of Chicago…went there my sophmore year & LOVED it…thought I could get in before I realized sr year that a 3.5 and 27 act is weak…and they have one of the best psychology departments in the major…#sadness
