Is anyone else just sick of having to take these meaningless classes with bored/boring teachers and dumb, pothead students who smoke and drink excessively? Maybe it’s just me but high school has got me ready to just up and leave, run off somewhere and meet genuine people who i can build meaningful experiences with.
What year are you in high school? How large is your school?
Can you take Honors/AP Classes? The students there are usually more interested.
Can you take Dual Enrollment classes?
HS will be over soon…college will be better.
I agree with @bopper. Try taking honors and AP classes. I am currently taking all honors and AP courses. There are a few potheads and party people in my courses, but in general, the people are much better than regular students.
I used to think all my classes were meaningless… like when would I ever have to use history as a STEM major? I then discovered that history was actually kinda fun sometimes. I would learn about the social, economic, cultural, and environmental impacts of certain events and see how events would connect and relate to each other. Even though I still perceive history as generally useless to me, I still find it interesting. I pay attention to the interesting parts of AP Euro at my school, but would never touch history outside of class. I also thought English was a pretty meaningless class too, but then I realized the importance of being able to pull out main ideas, make inferences, write essays and analysis, etc.
Don’t let boring teachers dissuade you; the material they teach are sometimes pretty interesting.
Also, I understand your struggle to find people to connect and bond with. I don’t have many friends and it’s not because I’m weird or into something that high schoolers look down upon like anime. A lot of my friendships are surface level and it doesn’t go below that. I don’t really mind because I know high school is going to be over in two years, and it’s not worth my time feeling sad or moody about my situation. I’m just trying to accomplish as much as possible in high school to reach my full potential and get into a decent university. I don’t really care about my social life because I know that I will have more opportunities to socialize when I go to college and am surrounded by like-minded people 24/7.
Sorry lol that was probably poorly written but I just took a math test so my brain is dead.
