So my son got a postcard in the mail from MIT "This Fall MIT Comes To You", for Sept 26 this year at Stevenson HS in Lincolnshire IL . Anyone else from here thinking of attending?

I attended four years ago :)

so you are now a Sr at MIT, or where? And how was The Big Meet at Stevenson?

I’m a current junior at MIT…I don’t really know what you mean by “Big Meet”. If you’re asking if the talk was informative, it was for me - I was starting the college application process and got a lot of good background information on what sorts of applicants MIT was looking for, what sorts of test scores and grades were expected etc. etc. But, if your student has already done extensive research, he or she probably won’t find it as valuable.

MIT also doesn’t take attendance at info sessions, so you shouldn’t go just to show interest. I had a good time, and my parents especially learned a lot about the school. I would recommend it.

Thanks - appreciate the insight. My son is just starting to really get into how this is going to go, and MIT, CalTech and NU are on his radar. I think he should attend this meet, for the points you mention.
