Anyone else ordering the free at-home Covid Tests?

We had a bunch of tests from a failed proctored vacation test (no connectivity) last year. Initially thought it was a waste of money – but between holiday events and friends with symptoms, we used them when supplies became scarce.

I don’t think you’re hoarding if you order what is allocated to your household. I wouldn’t be shocked if the supply gets backordered. You can help family, friends or your community if that becomes the case.

My D texted me the link - I ordered - She ordered for herself as well.

I have five boxes of two tests each. And no plans for get togethers so I think I’ll defer ordering. I used one test tonight on asthmatic son who has been coughing for a couple of days. It was negative. It’s asthma. But I thought we should check.

My town handed out one box of 2 per HOUSEHOLD last week. I brought my dad and we both got one. I ordered the 4 each online yesterday (my parents don’t have a computer!). That frees up the other 2 boxes plus another one we had for D to take back to school this weekend. She needs them more than we do, as her school is reluctant to test anyone.

Did anyone see if they will mail to a college address? I didnt ask my S to do it but I am debating.

I ordered and sent the link to my kids who live elsewhere. I also have my free one from NJ, and some from Amazon. We have good testing in town as well, a few pharmacies and the town offers testing once a week.

The comment about sharing your alloted tests if you don’t need them or have extra is a good one. The last few weeks our local FB pages constantly have had people ISO of rapid test and people often stepped up and offered one.

One of my son’s teacher co-workers was in search of one over the holidays and could not find one. Son knew we had some and asked if we’d be willing to let her have one. I said sure - honestly, I felt like I was sharing GOLD and I was happy to do it!

I am wondering if there is still a problem for apartment dwellers since deliveries are limited to one address. If so then the more economically marginalized may not be able to order. The site will say an order has already been made for that address. Some buildings have hundreds of tenants.

Even apt have separate #'s or letters, no? Like 320 Main Street, Apt B.??? D lives in an apt and ordered without trouble yesterday. Surely this is an obvious scenario they would be clued into.

I have heard of people trying to order for their business and it didn’t go through when their home order did.

There are reports on my parents group of orders not going through for students living in dorms because they all have the same address.

This wasn’t my idea. I read an article yesterday that people living in apartments are getting a message that that address has already ordered. So the site is not reading apartment numbers. I hope this has been fixed or was an anomaly.

Your daughter may have been the first to order in her building. Mine was too. We hope our orders aren’t preventing others from ordering. Hoping to read more on this.

The BIden administration said “some” may not be able to order online but can call a phone number.

We also shared a test with one of H’s co-workers. His son couldn’t go back to work without a negative test. since labs tests are impossible to find, they would accept a home test.

no, my mother and MIL live in the same apartment building (dont ask,ha!) and my step father was able to order for both families (again, dont ask).

Says it has to be a residential address on the website.

Apparently this issue involves how USPS identifies the apartment addresses. So some apartments are fine and others create a duplicate request denial. People are trying out workarounds.

It worked to send it to my son at his PO box at school

There is a number to call if people in apartments have problems. Not sure how long the wait is or anything.

I ordered them on the beta version of the website. Only problem I had was that I didn’t get an email saying my order had been accepted until about four hours later.

Yes i ordered them. Michael Mina from Harvard has been advocating for them for 2 years. I feel like it is too late but better late than never I guess.

Not sure why they wouldn’t have an option of people picking them up at few designated distribution center along with mailing option for people who are not mobil. It is a waste of resource to use usps.
