My D applied. The website says 8-12 weeks for a decision.
I applied August 26. I read on a tumblr forum (not sure how legit but by the bio and their word choice it seemed very legit) that they do not start looking at applications until October. Your academics and how early you apply are major factors in how long until you hear a reply. For example, I talked to a current MSU student who is in the honors college who applied early and she heard back in 2 weeks. It’s still seems like a toss up on how long you have to wait though.
The Tumblr forum she speaks of is an official Tumblr forum for the school (although some info is inconsistent…). I will be applying this week sometime (teachers are reading over my essay one more time). I hope it’s fast, I want to know if i got in very quickly. It’s been my favorite school since I was in 6th grade.

D applied in Mid August once the app opened up. HS just sent transcripts out to MSU on Friday so they now have everything needed so now we wait. We are doing an official tour in late October. We’ve done an unofficial tour but looking forward to an actual tour and visit. Assuming she get’s in this is one of the top two choices.
Update: I sent in my application last weekend. Can’t wait to hear back

You can check your status on the My Spartan portal. From what I read on my D’s information it says within 8-12 weeks once everything is submitted. It would be nice if it was sooner. D already received an acceptance from Kentucky and we are expecting notification from IU in the next week or two. MSU is one of her top three and we were hoping to hear before we do our visit in a few weeks.
I sent in my application on the 9th of September and was accepted today! (October 5th)

@microssrunner17 no, my D is an OOS student. She had all her paperwork in on 9/9 and yesterday received an e-mail that her status had changed, when she logged in to the Portal there was the announcement and links to her acceptance letter and welcome brochure with next steps. She should get the actual information in about a week.
FYI, her stats W GPA 3.7, 26 ACT, 1210 Old SAT (CR & Math), so far only 1 AP and 1 Duel Credit course but more schedule this year.
Congrats to both of you! Hopefully D hears this week. She is OOS. App was complete on 9/7.
Whoops, tagged the wrong person in my reply. Too early and not enough coffee. @itsgettingreal17 it looked like the did a mass update yesterday so I’m sure that more will be rolling out today and the following days. My D is in the same boat with another of her top choice schools. She had her app submitted in early August, Monday they started to send out notifications and we are seeing lots of people post but she hasn’t had anything yet. So far only 1 person from her HS has said anything. Really it’s most likely between MSU and the other school so nice to have one of her top 2 choices say yes. Assuming she get’s a yes from the other school it will be a tough choice. Both are great schools and options.
