Anyone ever repeat a school year?

Has any of you ever had to repeat a school year (in high school, that is), and is now attending or has been accepted to any highly selective college/university?

The reason I ask is that I have been feeling quite paranoid lately with theories that, since I will have to repeat a school year, this is an automatic rejection from any highly selective college/university. (If it matters, it is junior year that I will have to repeat.) On the other hand, I would like to think that, as long as they see an appropriate reason behind it, you are fine.

Anyone? Comments?

yeah, it matters why you’re repeating. if there’s a legitimate reason (i.e. you were ill for a year or something), then you’d just have to explain that to colleges through supplements/essays/your counselor.

If you repeat because you failed many classes (meaning, you showed up, didn’t really do work, etc.) then those selective colleges won’t take you.
