I believe it just started last year so very new. Would love to hear from students and parents with kids in the program – and those who considered applying/attending – about what they think in terms of:
– Overall quality and facilities at this early stage
– Is Wake Forest putting a lot of resources into this or is it more of a side gig for the college?
– Any particular engineering focus or specialities so far?
– Insights on connections to employers and job prospects
– Overall strengths and weakness you can share
Tks!

General engineering, will apply for ABET accreditation in 2021 (when first class graduates). If ABET accreditation is granted (earliest possible in 2022), it will be retroactive to the first class.
As a freshman at Wake not in engineering I don’t know a ton about it, but I do have a friend who’s in it who enjoys it so far. The program is in the newly renovated facility in downtown Winston-Salem, which is one of the downsides - you have to take a shuttle each time you have class there. However, it’s a very nice facility with several creative innovations that impressed me when I visited. According to my friend they’re still working out a few kinks as far as the curriculum but it seems to be on track to be just as good as the other programs at Wake.
