joemama, caltech and mit are also mail only =(. must be more of a 'philosophical decision' as opposed to technical reasons...

did all acceptees get phone calls?

I think the phone calls are only for people who were deferred SCEA and then were later accepted RD.

hmmmmm, thats right( this is a pointless post!)

good. i already got into princeton but stanford is my DREAM school.

oh and semp, nice post :-)

I checked my mail today...nothing...

Probably Monday then.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

Since some people have already gotten their decision today in socal, does that mean those of us that haven't are rejected?

that's what i was thinking...hopefully not everyone

Blueslurpees: I hope that's not the case. But let's not draw any false conclusions. Have there been any SoCaler's rejected and found out today?

I highly doubt it. I know mail in my neighborhood is notoriously slow; I've heard back from schools later than others in SoCal with the same outcome. Although I'm cautiously optimistic, I'm already looking into housing options and the like at the school I'm likely to attend if Stanford doesn't fall through.

This is insane. I think I'm almost in denial that decisions have already been made and are now circulating somewhere in the mounds of mail waiting to be delivered. This sucks.

I'm doing the same thing laurak. I already have my housing preferences in mind for the school I'm probably going to. I'm not even thinking about the places I got waitlisted at because I don't want to get my hopes up.

I think if we haven't gotten a package today then we're rejected. Because all the so-cal people who got it were accepted, and that's very few. Oh well!!

yeah, way to be pessimistic.
Good Job!

Yup, I'm making contingency plans already. Made plans to visit Berkeley, looked at meal plans, and getting ready to finalize financial aid at Berkeley on Monday and iron out problems.

With people getting in already from SoCal, I'm losing hope.
But notice that most people who've gotten in have been from Orange County; not many have heard from the Inland Empire (like me) or areas outside of major hubs like Cerritos, etc.

So, hang in there till Monday. If we're rejected, then we've made a valiant effort. If we're accepted then we can party.

Err, two people have been admitted already from SoCal on this board. I don't think that is too representative of the area.

Not to mention that mail has to go through particular centers. For example, Stanford may have mailed all the decisions out, but my mail has to go through Redlands first; after Redlands, it then get's sorted out to my local post office (which is about 30-40 minutes away from Redlands) and then my post office has to sort it out and get it to me.

Placing the last 4 numbers on your zip code speeds things up too but Stanford doesn't allow the 4 additional numbers to placed at the end of the main zip code.

Also, those SoCalers who have received their mail probably live within the vicinity of the central (not to be confused with main) office for the region area and thus received their mail directly instead of following two stops like my mail.

Typically, even mail from my area to Riverside (about half an hour) can take up to 3 days even though it's so close. Again, this is attributed to the distribution and pathways of mail.

Thanks for the info. I'm still expecting a rejection, but hopefully, this spells out acceptances for the rest of you guys.

Ohh, don't say that. Plus, I've only seen a few people in the Los Angeles area hear back, one in Fullerton, and one in San Jose, which is over 400 miles from where I am. Or have I not been lurking enough? Don't take my razor-thin hope away from me, eiffel! Granted I'm stuck between moving on from the big S and hanging onto the prospects, still!

I know I couldn't handle going to Berkeley (just because it would remind me of Stanford), but I'm sure even if you don't get into Stanford you'll do great at Cal. For me, L.A. may never have been a top choice, but it's still a nice school with lots of resources and opportunities and a literary scene to boot. I'll still probably attempt a transfer, but it's not a bad place to start.

i hope it doesnt mean we're rejected though. i got my other east coast schools but not stanford. dang it. this sucks. why are they lagging? everyone else is so technologically advanced with emails and online decisions, yet stanford begs to differ witht their conventional ways. *SIGH just tortures us anxious applicants some more.

Laurak: UCLA is definitely a good option. I'm thinking about transferring too. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Good luck!

sunkist: Thanks, and good luck to you too :) If Stanford doesn't fall through, where are you looking to attend?
