Anyone from socal hear yet?

I live in Santa Barbara and I got mine today.

IN!!!!

from orange county, city of orange....accepted :)

uh oh...that's definitely not good news for those who haven't received theirs yet...

Okay, there goes that Ceritos theory.

UCLA was my fall back if Stanford didn't work out...but them I made the impulsive decision about Berkeley.

UCLA is wonderful laurak!

Just hold on guys...it's not over for us yet!

Seriously, I will laugh when people who get their acceptance letters on Monday post their results.

We can't draw conclusions yet.

laurak: If Stanford doesn't fall through (which is what I expect), it's btw Berkeley, UCLA, Carleton, and Boston University (honors college.) I'm accepting spots of the wait lists of Rice and Wesleyan though. I'm not really sure where I'm going to end up.

Hey Sunkist, I'm thinking Berkeley. Thought through everything, read through everything, .... and I want to stay in Cali. Have to go through the UCLA honors/Regents thing, because I promised my parents to keep an open mind, but I want Berkeley for myself. I'll be driving to the OHP myself on the 15th, so that's how much I really want to experience Berkeley. I'm done with waiting for "mercy" from Stanford. Honestly, who the h.... needs that stress. GL sunkist!

Orange County - unincorporated area - big envelope.
Usually I get mail 2-3 days later than everyone else because I don't live in a city.
Good Luck!

Hey jc! I'm going to OHP too. Actually, Berkeley is paying for my airfare there. I might eventually end up at Berkeley because of my parents. It's all up in the air. Nothing is for sure. It's great to hear from you.

My dad for some reason thinks I still have a chance at Stanford. LOL!

uh oh...sniff sniff...stanford was my first choice...
if i don't get in i guess i'll go to harvard...

^^ haha yeah that would suck. right now my back up to stanford is PRINCETON. i know, dont u feel so bad for me?

Hey lilpinkeyedlamb, try Berkeley, .... unless you really feel Harvard will be a perfect fit for you. (I'm not sure it would be for me, but that's a personal thing when it comes down to it.)

Hey sunkist!!! They're paying for your airfare? How cool! I got Regents, but they didn't offer me that. Maybe I should have told them I'll have to drive my butt over there because I can't afford the airfare. Lol though, I can't wait to go. I really want Berkeley. Just in me.
GL with Stanford though!!! I keep my hands crossed for you!!!:)

laurak, my back up's probably la too. haha, i'm just telling you this cause i saw in the other post that you were majoring in english with a creative writing concentration and i was too. :) okay, mostly i'm just trying to pass the time. eesh.

ugh.. stuff always gets to me slower too.. (orange county) .. but .. this probably means i'm rejected.. what the eff, haha

congrats to those who got in!

fakeplants: Awesome! It's so rare to find a fellow Humanities major, let alone another English major. I've been looking into LA more and more, and there are actually a lot of opportunities and community outreach programs related to our major. I'm getting really excited about getting involved, so now that future Stanford rejection isn't looking so painful :) Good luck!

i'm in sacramento (norcal) and my friend and i didn't get ours today like we thought we would... our mail usually gets here pretty quick, but looks like it will be monday for both of us... we're planning on calling our moms during lunch. :)

laura: haha, that's true. 90% of the people i know want to do with science or math, which, don't get me wrong, i love math (i hate hate hate science and i can't wait til i'm through with all forms of it), but i don't want to be calculating when i'm thirty. though, i do get "so what are you gonna do with an english degree" a lot and i have no idea. la's beautiful and all around it are coffee shops and restaurants -- i think it'll be awesome. haha i'll see you there. (or maybe at stanford, ahaha). good luck to you too!

fakeplants: Tell me about it. AP science is the bane of my existence--sitting around and talking about books all day is a far more practical use of my time ;). People also ask me what I'm going to do with an English degree, but I'm already content with my plans to pursue writing and teaching. I figure there isn't any money or any work out there for anyone majoring in anything, so I might as well be poor doing something I enjoy. Life's too short to worry about something as petty as money and staying alive. But yeah, I'll see you in Westwood (or Palo Alto)!

My son got his acceptance letter in the mail today...we live in Santa Barbara. Because it is Saturday, he hasn't heard from all of his friends, but of those he has spoken to, he is the only one who got a letter today.
On the other hand, there was a week's span of time for letters arriving in Santa Barbara from Georgetown and early or late did not mean accepted or rejected. It just meant typical U. S. Post Office inefficiencies.
Good luck to you all!
