anyone get accepted to harvard with a B in precalc Honors junior yr?

I got an A in precalc honors for first semester...but I got a sudden B in my final grade for second semester. It was totally unexpected- I am in a shock. It is JUNIOR year...and I have never had a B since fourth grade in elementary school. I take 5 APs this year and I don't have any B except this honors class. (I have good ECs and I am dedicated in science.)

Am I doomed? I am so shocked that my hands are shaking right now...

if you are rejected from Harvard, a single B on your transcript will not be the reason. You are seriously over-reacting

It’s your only B, chill out. I’m willing to bet it will have no impact on your admission chances. If you had other B’s as well, then maybe you’d have a slightly less chance, but it’s your only B. Cool off and enjoy summer while you can.

Alright…sorry guys- its just that i just found out…and it is a little hard to believe. and it’s precalc honors; i was afraid that it would seem like i am incapable of doing higher level math. it would be comforting to hear from a person who has been accepted to harvard…

i got a B in math junior year and im planning on being a math major LOL. seriously, youre fine. of all the things that the adcom has to consider, if you get rejected it wont be because of the B, and if you get in it wont because of the B. seriously, chill out

If you get rejected it’s because you are so weak, that your hands start shaking when you get a B. Grow up.

I had a low A in honors precalc, and it didn’t completely kill me.

I got a random B in English last year, my best subject. I had a mini-nervous breakdown, but eventually recovered. No, you’re not doomed, and yes, you’ll be fine. As trite as it sounds, relax. Everything will be fine.

And whatever your outcome next year during applications, the decisions will not be the result of a B in honors precalc.

OP I’m sorry to tell you, but in Harvard’s 374 years as an educational institution, it has never accepted a student who received a B in Pre-Calculus Honors.

^Scummin’ it up as always, Jersey.

^ Music to my ears.

Well, personally I never got a B in Precalc Honors. I can only assume through valid extrapolation that this means you will probably not get in with a B in Precalc Honors. Sorry. [xkcd: Extrapolating](xkcd: Extrapolating)

^“valid extrapolation” = <3

I love xkcd.

i mean, it is my JUNIOR YEAR, where grades are the most important =[ I’m going to try my best to mitigate this somehow, but … I hope it will all be alrite.

Be sure to get an A in Calculus senior year for the mid-year grade, as well as high Math SAT II, and AP Calc trests. That might allay the adcoms doubts about your academic skills.

i got 800 in math level 2 sat subj test.

do colleges see the grade for senior year? at least the first quarter? (i hope so! i am taking 7 ap’s and aiming for all A’s- I am seriously determined, after THIS incident)

Harvard will see your first-semester grades.

Do the first sem senior yr grades get sent in together with my fall application?

They are part of the mid-year report.

Oh…so the college would be using the mid-yr report together with my fall app when they make the decision…? i think i understand the procedure now. not all parts of my app get sent in together in one.

That is correct.
