Anyone get in with a C on their transcript?

Just wondering how much it affects your chances..

It would have to depend on the class, the rest of the transcript, the level of rigor overall and how the student’s overall GPA fits into the context of their high school.

My weighted GPA is 100.1/100, unweighted is 95/100. I’ve taken all Honors/AP classes offered. The class I received the C in was PreCalc Honors, my teacher was absolutely horrible (that’s no excuse though).

Yeah, of course a C on your transcript hurts you. But your GPA was strong enough that it doesn’t seem to have brought you down much. The best you can hope to “make up” for it is get A’s in higher level math courses/score well on SAT II math/get a 4-5 on AP Calc.

I got in with a C both semesters of biology my freshman year… My 5s and As in chem and physics kind of negated it. Just don’t apply for a math or science major unless you get an A in a higher level math like Mileyc said.

Thanks everyone! Just wondering… In Cornell, can you major in let’s say philosophy and still take the required courses for med school? Johns Hopkins offers that option so idk if it’s only exclusive to that school

Pre-med isn’t really a major. As long as you take the necessary pre-med courses, you can major in whatever you want.
