My decision is still pending...but I just got a letter in the mail today with an application to apply for a TAP scholarship for fall 2008 admits. It states a few times that it is not a letter of admission. Anyone get this? Any ideas of whether or not it means anything?

Well I've been admitted and I got one. I still haven't even gotten a physical letter of my admission in the mail yet. But yeah, I got one.

how far are you guys physically from UCLA?

In traffic, I'm a little less than an hour away. Without traffic, around 30 minutes-ish, because I have a lead foot. :O

about the same distance for me

yeah i got one today -- but u need to have filled out a FAFSA. is this a need based scholarship or is it just given to everyone who is in w/ TAP?

Well that's my question sort of--I haven't gotten my decision yet, so I was wondering if this is something sent to only admits or to everyone. It's not the need-based one; "UCLA College of Letters and Science Transfer Alliance Program (TAP) Fall 2008 Scholarship Application" appears on the top of the application, and it says they will be given out on a need basis as well as a merit basis.

it clearly says on the bottom of mine it's not a notification of admission
obviously sent to everyone

kidrobot - the fact that it says "this is not a notification of admission" does not necessarily mean it does not indicate admission. By that reasoning, even getting the official decision means nothing, because only the official snail mail can be regarded as a true notification of admission and every online source tells that it cannot be taken as official notification of admission.
