I was thinking about going to the NYLF on National Security, Diplomacy and Intelligence. Did anyone go to that in the past? It is like $1500, but you get to meet some pretty high-up people (Air Force Joint Chief of Staff, Director of CIA, etc). Not sure if I’m gonna do it. It looks good on the application, and the things you do look very educational (Visit CIA, visit an Air Force base, talk to Congressman, etc). Any imput?

I know this is not really anything about the academy, but you get to meet representitives from each academy there.

I did it, back in 2005.
It is a great thing to attend and also something that looks very good on a resume.
The total cost we I went ended up being around $4000.

I recommend it.

Also, keep in mind that the AFA looks at stuff like NYLF DID- specifically.

I got something about NYLF on Medicine. I really think if I were to do it, I'd rather do the one on National Security.

DS went for Political Science, and it was a great experience. Also remember you should have a back-up plan for civilian colleges. Universities also look highly upon, since the EC is academically related, and it gives them an idea that you can survive in a collegiate atmosphere without Mon and Dad

I have a group of friends who went to the one on medicine and they all thought it was great and well worth it

I went to NYLF on National Security this year. It was a great experience. It gave me the opportunity to meet people and go places that may influence may career choice. My favorite part was a guided tour of Andrew's Air Force Base, especially climbing around the cockpits of the Hueys they had. I also enjoyed the meeting with a group of military officers that was offered.

If you have the opportunity to attend NYLF, I would recommend going.

Wow, I forgot about this topic. Makes me sad that I didn't get to go this year.
