Anyone going to the states in April?

So... I'm still trying to decide between my colleges that I was accepted to.. Like, each school has it's bad points and good points, and the only way I think I'll be able to decide is if I visit them myself.. I dont want to make the wrong decision and be miserable for 4 years (and consider the option of transferring.. ughh another bunch of applications..).

So I'm thinking of visiting the east coast - PA, NY, MA, VA.
But the thing is, I have no idea where to start with the planning process - like, should I go when they have thier open houses? Where do I stay? Do I travel by myself? How do I get from one state to another?
I'm just completely confused and I'd just like to know if anyone else is considering visiting the states :).

k_twin and I are; (an impulse brought about by Rice partially sponsoring our visit), but we're not sure if we can get a visa in time for the visit. We might have a look at other colleges we've got into as well (seems a shame to let all that travel go to waste.)

You'd be best served by posting more specific details in the Parents' Forum; I doubt many here would be able to advise you.

Did they offer you the sponsoring or did you ask for it?

Offered...

A visa... I haven't really thought about that...
I'm so lost lol.. I dont even know where to start..

I did a mamoth college tour trip this summer which included visiting 6 universities in 6 days in 3 states! First start up an Excel spreadsheet with a row for each day of your trip. Then go on each universties website and check what dates you can go and visit. Try to link up nearby universities to closer dates. Once you have finalised your whole schedule book yourself for the tours on the college website. I bought hotels, cars, flights through expedia...its the cheapest. The best way form of transport is Greyhound or the Train service. Hope that helps.

In addition to Expedia-type sites, you may also want to check schedules and fares for Jet Blue and Southwest. These don't show at the travel websites. Both are fabulous airlines. (Jet Blue did have some weather related woes this winter, but they are still great and it's a pleasure to fly them.)
