ANYONE HAVE ADVICE TO INCREASE YOUR SAT SCORE

I just received my January 2014 scores back, and needless to say I was devastated. I got a 2020 (570 cr, 800 math, 650 writing) which isn't necessarily bad but considering my circumstances I should of done much better. My mom sent me to 3 sat prep courses that all guaranteed high scores, and spent a crap load of money on sat prep. She got really mad at me since all my friends were able to get 2100> without studying. Now I'm taking the March 8th Sat and I need to self study. Is there anyway I can increase my score to a 2100-2240 in 3 weeks??????? I'm really in need of help.

First of all: a 2020 is a wonderful score and absolutely nothing to be ashamed of! You’re different from your friends, so you can’t really compare their scores to yours based on prep and all that jazz. So be proud!

I’d suggest going through all the awesome resources here on CC, seriously. There’s a lot of threads, especially the stickies, that go through specific strategies on specific parts of the test. A lot of them are geared to people who are already in the 2000+ range, so there’s definitely stuff for you out there.

Besides that, I’d definitely try to understand what kinds of mistakes you may have made on the SAT and target that CR for sure. Go through your BB mistakes [assuming that you’ve done at least some blue book tests- if not, I’d suggest doing those!] and really hit on what you’re missing specifically. Find out why, and then how to fix it.

Good luck! Don’t panic! =) You’re going to be wonderful.
