anyone have an idea of what i should major in?

in the past week ive put over 100 hrs looking into what career i wanna major in and i cant find anything right for me :(. i would love to be a police officer but i cant because the chances of that are almost impossible here on long island. and i dont wanna graduate college with a degree in crimal justice knowing that i wont find any job in the field when im out. anyway, i like airplanes and space and anything that relates to weapons, i cant be a pilot though because its very hard and expensive. i hate everything that relates to business and accounting. i really love cars, problem is cars nowdays are all computer powered and stuff not to mention its a low paying job and i like old cars. i was thinking about being a dietitian/nutrionist, but there not many on long island so finding a job would be hard. im 18 and im going through hell thinking about my future, any ideas? anyone?

Seems to me that Long Island isn’t very ideal for your future career plans. Have you ever considered moving? Becoming a police officer is very easy in many parts of the US.

i wouldnt wanna live anywhere else lol, but theres alot of competition around here and many people move here knowing long island jobs you get much higher pay than most other places.

Looks like you might have to choose between staying in Long Island or finding a career that you enjoy.

I immediately thought of you enlisting in the USAF (they have a number of jobs which would interest you), but then I saw that you wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.

Have you ever been anywhere besides Long Island? Before you make all of your decisions based on where you live you should try other areas. Are you going to remain in LI for college? That might give you a chance to see other places. Also, you have to major in what is best for you. Yeah it might be hard to find a job but isn’t that the way it is for almost all majors. You have to be flexible and try different things until you find your niche.

PS - I also immediately thought of the military after reading your post,
