Hello all!
I just recently returned from my trip to St Louis to audition for the Conservatory of the Arts at Webster University. Firstly, has anyone here heard of it and what are your thoughts and opinions on the school? I found it very nice and quaint (however ugly with the deadness of fall) and want to know if anyone here has done thorough research on the place or has attended/is attending. My audition went well and a friend of mine who attends the college said that the woman who was auditing my audition (one of four auditors) even mentioned my audition in their junior year theatre class! So, fingers crossed but I'm not getting my hopes up too high. Anyways, to the point! A) Thoughts on the program? B) Anyone else apply/how did you feel your auditions were? C) Do you have any clue how the admissions process goes there? I've heard that you are accepted into the school and then into the program, but am unaware of any sort of time frame with this. I think they have a rolling admissions and a lot of people at the audition with me had already been academically accepted.

Thanks for any help!

Hi there. I auditioned for Webster’s BFA Acting Program, and I had a great experience there. I have two friends in the program (Junior Acting Major and Freshman Musical Theatre Major), and they both are incredibly happy with their decision to attend Webster. My friend who is a Freshman was recently cast in two Equity shows at Arrow Rock theatre, which she auditioned for at regional summer stock auditions, which were held at Webster.

YOu will probably get accepted academically before you get into the program, but you won’t hear from the program until late March/ April. Their last auditions are this coming weekend (March 19 and 20th), then they will begin the decision process.

It’s a great program that is heavy on book and academic work. Anyone would be lucky to go there. Best of luck!

Oh woops - I personally am accepted academically, and have gotten my financial aid package for the school. I really enjoyed the campus visit, and saw a production of Anne Frank at the St. Louis Rep that two Webster students were in. Very impressed.

I attended a summer program this year in which nearly all of the teachers had graduated from Webster Conservatory. I don’t know about the program itself, but all the teachers were beyond fantastic. If these are the kind of people Webster cultivates, I would have to agree with emi2010.

Anybody have any thoughts on their Technical Directing program? My son is very interested in auditioning for that next year.
