Anyone have questions about Rutgers? I feel like helping.

well i think my gpa is 90,67%.Thanks guys!

nominal, thanks but does legacy count at ru?

Wasn’t there an email address published to which freshman could send their course change requests and that they would be assisted with changes - an SAS address? Does anyone recall this - I thought I saw this somewhere? If needed classes are full are exceptions made by individual profs?

Just a couple of questions…
How are the Gym facilities at Rutgers? Are they free or do you need to be a member, which ones are the best ones to go to and which ones are always full/busy and which ones are not quite so? I have a few classes on College Ave and I really just want to run on treadmills and lift a bit after class, can I do so at College Ave?

The other question I have is regarding Expos Writing I. I am planning on dropping it because I am looking for it at an earlier time. Classes start tomorrow while Expos is scheduled for tues and thurs. Should I still go to Expos tomorow even though I am looking to drop it for an earlier time slot?? Also when can we actually start to add/drop classes thorough Webreg?

Thanks in advance

The gym question – don’t know too much about since I don’t go there. But I hear that Werblin on Busch is nice. It’s free for students. Not too familiar with College Avenue.

Expository Writing – I say that you go to expos just in case. To be on the safe side, just go to class tomorrow anyway.

The drop/add period through webreg starts tomorrow until September 10th (from 6am to midnight on weekdays)

I was just wondering for anyone who submitted a work study application when do we get our job assignments? I still don’t know where I’m supposed to be working. . .

Thanks for the info gym at Busch! I’ll definitely go check it out tomorrow. The reason I’m asking about switching Expository Writing to an earlier time is because of a job that I have near my home (I’m a commuter). Would there be a way of going about switching time slots to assure that I get one that would allow me to work also?

I am a transfer student and other than my Star day and my first week on campus I was wondering it is really necessary to meet with an advisor every semester like it was at my community college? I know its not 100% official but I feel the Degree Navigator helps enough and that an advisor should only be used for more “serious” questions. I really don’t have much time to meet up with one with them closing at 5 and having classes/work

I am also a history major, do you need permission to take the seminars or you just sign up for the ones which are open? I know its for juniors and seniors but I was wondering if you need approval or not

thanks for any answers

It is not necessary to meet with your adviser every semester. You are not required to. They are there for you when you need them.

If it is for juniors and seniors, I think it would best for you to contact someone in the history department about this. Most likely you will need permission since you might get an error when trying to add the class via webreg since you aren’t a junior or senior.

i’d be happy to help as well, i’m a freshman here myself so maybe i can relate =]

My daughter is thinking about applying as a transfer student. She is currently attending a small campus with a maximum walking distance of 10 minutes between classes. My question is: Are the classes at Rutgers located on different campuses? If you can give us some insight about the distance between classes and the bus situation we would much appreciate it.

The classes are located on different campuses. The bus is frequent on the weekdays when classes are in session. On weekends, it is a bit of a pain because they come every 20-30 minutes.

It’s not the best bus system, but it certainly isn’t the worst. The problem that we seem to have is overcrowding. Going to a big university, it isn’t unusual to find yourself trying to struggle into a bus with people crammed like sardines.

This is not such a frustrating problem if you:
(A) leave your dorm for class at least 20-25 minutes early in case you need to let a bus go by since it is packed
(B) If convenient, catch the bus a stop earlier before it fills up. For example, on College Avenue there is this stop by the grease trucks that get crowded quickly because the classroom buildings and lecture halls are nearby. I usually just walk back up College Avenue to the stop before at the Rutgers Student Center and catch a bus there. People aren’t fighting to get on the bus either since the bus is usually stationed there for a good 5 minutes since it is the starting point of the route. In general, it is best to get the bus at any student center stop on campus if convenient since the buses are waiting there.

In terms of distance, I’d say the longest it ever took me was 30 minutes (from Livingston to Douglass) and that was because of the traffic on Route 18. It seems like a lot, but I just make sure that I leave earlier enough to catch a bus. When you register for classes online, you aren’t allowed to choose a class if they are right after the other (20 minute or less interval) and are on different campuses.

I was terrified of the buses when I transferred here this fall, but I honestly haven’t had any problems yet…I’m always early to class, actually.

Buses aren’t a huge problem. You get used to them and they really just become a part of life. Getting in the habit of leaving early, as Mushaboom said, is really good, though, because you’ll always have some extra time in case something screws up.

I got a 4 on the AP Eng Lang test. That would exempt me from expos, right? Also how does Rutgers get AP scores; does my high school guidance department send out the scores?

Whats the chance of getting transfer accepted to nb sebs from newark sas with about a 3.0 gpa whats the lowest you think is acceptable?

i need an interdisiplinary, diversity and awareness courses.

So which one are the easiest that i should take to boost GPA

a couple of questions, my twin bro has an sat score of 1700, with a 490 in CR, i have a 2020, so im prob going to be admitted into NB SAS. if my bro doesnt get accepted cuz of this 4 hour test, and gets into newark sas or nothing, then he has to take the train everyday while i take the car. do you think rutgers will let him in sas cuz of this problem? dont get me wrong, he has a 3.5 UW, and 4.4 weighted, and takes honors classes and 5 AP classes. thats pretty good, but would rutgers actually deny him cuz of a 490, that would cuz family problems and may cause financial issues.so my real question is, do they decide like robots, or do they look at multiple factors? cuz im sure we’ve all heard irrational decision of people with 2.7 gpas and 1600 getting in, and kids with 1830 and 3.0 getting rejected. and also, for me, can i take honors classes while not being in the honors program?

does anyone know how the rowing team at rutgers is? or if you know anyone who is on the team and could answer some of my questions that would be great

How is the Exercise Science program at Rutgers?
