When is the signup for the artistic review?

Sorry for not posting that sooner NotMamaRose, as of right now I am on the way to NYC, and the letter has been packed up, but jasmom got the info.

Hey Chris, good luck to you on your big move in and enjoy welcome week at Tisch! Enjoy the lines to move in tomorrow, lol. It's gonna be great. At your very first event, the big welcome for Tischies early tomorrow evening, my daughter's coed a capella group, The N'Harmonics, is going to perform for you. Go up and say hi. She is traveling to NYC tomorrow to be there at your opening (and her sister is traveling there with her too to be there), though she can't move to NYC until Sept. 4, the night before classes starts. She is still working at her summer theater job (away from home) but arranged to get to NY to be there for your big welcome event. Have fun!

Mackie, if you are applying ED to Tisch, you can start signing up for appointments beginning on Oct. 1. If you are applying RD, then the sign ups begin on Nov. 1. The ED auditions are on campus during the month of November. The RD on campus auditions are during the month of Feb. This has been the case for several years. However, do not rely on a message board for such important information and always call or write the school to get information of this nature. Good luck to you in the process.

Thanks Soozievt!!

About how many students are usually accepted into Cap21?

Usually about 80 students are accepted into CAP21 to yield 64 in the freshman class. Most freshmen classes have 64 students in them. The class of 2009 has more because more of those who were admitted, accepted the offer.

While there are 64 in the class, the studio classes are broken into four sections, with about 16 students in a class.

Hey - no long lines for us on moving day! Got a parking spot right outside Carlyle and moved my d in within 1/2 hour (checking in/getting keys/paperwork/moving stuff in a bin). No lie. Sorry; I feel very blessed/lucky as hell!

In regards to the "interview" referenced earlier in the post, is this the short question and answer thing that happens after your artistic audition or is this a separately scheduled interview?

It is an interview at the same time as the audition. You do all your material, and then they have you come and sit down and ask you questions.

Chris, how about an update on how things are going so far?

Haha...well...as of right now "orientation" consists of learning the city for the most part. Earlier this week, me and a bunch of my friends went to Sweeney Todd before it closed, and we got to meet the whole cast, including Patty and Michael. The show itself was incredible.

We've (me and many other Tisch, as well as other NYU colleges) have been enjoying the free food of welcome week. We also have been finding cheap places throughout the city. My roomate is from Jersey, and has a lot of experience in the city, so he does a lot of the guiding.

Everyone here, regardless of major, is extremely welcoming, including the upperclassmen.

So far, it's the time of my life...placements are soon, and we've had a lot of basic information sessions about the program, so hopefully we'll be all set when the time comes to start class.

A random note though, there is the main building where all the tisch stuff takes place, and then you have to walk to cap, which is a bit farther away from the washington square campus. However, its not that far at all, so its not a big deal.

Also, the meal plan is incredible here, so many choices...I kinda don't know why I'm eating out all the time...

Good luck to all of you in your college search, and pm me with any questions.

Chris

Out of curiosity, what kind of questions were asked during the interview? Was it to get to know you as a person more? Or was it to get to know you as an actor more?

Hi! As my senior year draws nearer and nearer, I'm really started to feel overwhelmed the college theater audition! My first choice school is NYU, ideally the CAP 21 program (but i'll take what i can get!). Anyway, I've been looking through stuff and working on some stuff this summer but I'd love hear about what those of you who got into NYU did for your auditions in terms of monologues and song. or also any songs/monologues that you feel is good audition material for girls. I would love just college audition advice in general, it's so overwhelming!! I would really appreciate any information or any advice at all. thanks so much!

soooo...everyone here trying to make it into tisch seems as though they have been acting and doing plays throughout their whole childhood.....

was there any1 who made it who had not?

I am a dancer(very serious), and within the last few monthes have become VERY interested in acting ( I always was INTERESTED, just had no time to pursue)....and I would realllllllllllllly loooooove to be able to go...

so please help with the above question and

2) do i have ANY shot?
3) how can i prepare?
4) know any good acting coaches that can help prepare?

thanks so much for your time!

How much time do you have to work with? What year are you? What (if any) theater have you done? Why the sudden interest? My d (jr in hs) is in a similar circumstance (dancer -- no time).

Does anyone know last yrs. dates/locations for Tisch Drama/M/T auditions?
