You will not get that guarantee, so do the honest thing and take PSU off the table now.

^^^
Thanks for the suggestion, but I usually only accept advice from people that I either know personally or that I have reason to respect.

BTW,

Irony-- Another common use of quotation marks is to indicate or call attention to ironic or apologetic words: He shared his “wisdom” with me.

Emphasis (incorrect usage)-- Quotes are sometimes used incorrectly for emphasis in lieu of underlining or italics, most commonly on signs or placards. This usage can be confused with ironic or altered-usage quotation, sometimes with unintended humor.

Then get in touch with the housing office before you waste any more of your time.

(or get your son’s hopes up.)

Exactly. I do not know how to underline or use italics (or bold) on this site. I do however appreciate you spending so much time analyzing my posts and your concern for my time.

I was just trying to explain my misunderstanding of your post. (I thought you were being ironic.)

If my opinions about housing or nursing at PSU serve to enlighten or educate others…then they are probably constructive.

^^^
Then how come you stated:

And my daughter did not apply to PSU. Her standards are too high. NOW I have criticized both the program AND the University in this thread.

^^^
UMMM…IS THAT CONSTRUCTIVE IN ANY WAY? Now that I’ve proven you are not being constructive - I’m done.

And I’m new to this college confidential website, so I don’t know how to “quote” someone’s statement - sure would be a lot easier that way.

goldens, I am just back from a nice, mind-clearing run. While I was out I realized how pointless it is to respond to the baiting from folks like aglages. I am going to wish his children success wherever they end up and be done with him.

GREAT ADVICE 1moremom. About the run part as well! No amount of bashing can ruin my daughter’s excitement (and mine as well) about attending PSU UP in the fall.

Both of you are done with me? OMG! Does this mean I can post my opinions without the attack posts? Thank you both for your consideration and please try to STAY done with me.

BTW - I sincerely wish both of your children the best of success.

OMG!!! Far from bashing, just critical commentary…get a thicker skin…I hope you spent more time researching the nursing program, particularly clinicals in the middle of nowhere, as you have spent criticizing others opinions…

I have one thing to say, and I’m not going to reply to whatever you say back.

You’re all pathetic for arguing over a forum. This is meant to be a resource for people like me who need info on colleges. Nobody cares about the **** you say to each other and nobody wants to see it either. Send each other private messages if you want to argue that bad.

^^^
You are an engineering student that is reading the 5th page of a thread about nursing and you’re not happy about us voicing our opinions? You should fit in just fine at PSU. Don’t forget…you are “not going to reply to whatever” we say.

qdogpa: You don’t think either of those two actually have children in the PSU nursing program…do you? Not a chance. This is all about defending the honor of PSU regardless of their experience or knowledge about the nursing program.

Don’t you guys have anything better to do than sitting in front of the computer refreshing this thread all day? How about a nice walk around the block, or a game of gin rummy? :-)

Oh no, aglages is back? Seems to have some deep negative bias against PSU, who knows why???
Just alerting anyone before they heed any of his 'advice" on the PSU forum to read all his comments. He doesn’t seem to offer any ‘direct’ knowledge and has an obvious bias against Penn State. He is a (maybe too involved)parent, his kids did/do not attend (nor have applied, yet) PSU, but feels the need to chime in here and bash PSU. Yes, PSU is not for everyone. Good thing or it would be even more crowded haha! Everyone needs to find a school that fits them, and needs help to make their decision on first hand criteria., not based on things they have heard or read.

^^^
Do students sleep in lounges at PSU?
Where are the nursing clinicals for junior & senior nursing students?
Do you know? I do. If I have posted some false information about PSU, perhaps you could clear up the record by quoting those remarks with correct information? Otherwise, my posts are factual regardless of your own bias and obvious need to silence any criticism of PSU.

All right, all right, ALL RIGHT! Can we please just get back to the intended topic of this thread?!?!

What a waste of time to have to wade through all these juvenile attacks at each other- seriously, it feels like I have to break up a fight of grade schoolers…if you all don’t stop it RIGHT NOW, I will turn this car around! (Whoops, sorry…the angry Mom came out in me, lol!)

Seriously though, I think we are all adults enough to understand that not every person will be happy at PSU- and that it is perfectly fine to voice opinions on any programs. I just think maybe another thread could be started to discuss those opinions- this particular thread was started so that applicants could check to see if others have received acceptance letters yet. Could we please just keep it to that?

And for the record, yes, I have applied to PSU- for the second degree nursing program, which is only available at the Altoona campus. Do I think it is a perfect program? Nope. However as a working Mom of 2 young kids who is looking for a career change, it works for me. I appreciate others’ opinions, but at the end of the day, everyone has to follow that path that is best for their individual situation.

Good luck everyone! Oh, and btw…I am still waiting to hear from them!! :)
