Anyone Hear Yet?

AKGIRL, I agree with your post. I just found it very odd. My son was afraid that the letter was a rejection because of it's size. I do, however, find it interesting that RPI doesn't seem to feel the need to 'market' a great deal (at least to us), versus some of the other schools that send lots of materials and have students calling, etc.

My S is trying to make his selection based on the programs (and he's asked me to factor in the finances and let him know whether he should weight one school higher than another because of 'final cost'.)

apple17- I also agree with you about the lack of personalized correspondence. I intend to communicate with the admissions office once final decisions are made about the lack of the "human" touch". I am an alumni at RPI and feel the need to communicate this directly.

May sound like a silly question, but in order to receive the alumni scholarship, must your parent be a alumni?

Nope. I got around 5K in the alumni scholarship and my parent's never went to college, much less RPI. I think it's just a name for scholarships to help meet people's financial needs from alumni that donate.

You are correct there is a separate line item for legacy scholarships which are $3,000/yr.

My son heard neither a yes or a no from RPI however he was invited to an online chat for accepted students. I emailed RPI to ask if perhaps something had been lost in the mail but have not received a reply..scratching RPI off of the list. Oh well. As a mom, I would rather my son go to school closer to home anyhow.

I called. He was accepted.

Accepted, got 25k in scholarships, the usual other stuff. Yep.
