So i got waitlisted for Mech Eng. Freshman applicant

I feel so sad, does this mean my chance of acceptance just went down?

Dimas:

Unfortunately it does mean your odds have gone down, but that doesn’t mean you’re out. CPP will be getting applicants decisions on May 1st. Not everyone that got accepted will commit to CPP though. At that point new spots will open up for those on the wait-list. You should call Monday and ask where you rank on the wait-list. That could give you a better idea of your odds of getting in.

Hope that helps. Good Luck!

@Bowwow89 I’m a comm transfer too! With the same gpa at the time of application, but it raised to a 3.15 but they wouldn’t know that cause they haven’t asked me for anything! =| haha, at least there’s someone else out there in the same situation. Hopefully we hear back before next week ends. I really want to decide on a school already.

still nothing, i spoke with the rep that came to my school on Wednesday the 24th and she told me everyone should have gotten an answer yesterday the 23th but clearly thats not the case. so she took my information down and to look for any emails in my spam ( there wasnt anything in there plus who doesnt refresh the bronco direct page religiously)
she also told me to go ahead and accept any schools offer. so i guess im going to SLO instead which is beautiful but so far from Long Beach

Bleh, I already accepted my admission to csulb. I didn’t have to pay for the enrollment deposit anyways so if I get into cpp then I can always just switch later.

Hey Rosey, I hope we find out what’s going on Monday.

I’m going to call Monday morning. Hopefully they can give me an answer one way or another. I just need to know at this point.

Best of luck to you. I hope we both get in!

@bowwow89 I do hope we both get in also!! Let me know what they sayyy. I think it’s a little unfair for them to be taking this long, especially if the applicants are freshmen, even though I’m a transfer, haha

@Rosey

I agree, this whole process has been unfair. We paid 55 to apply and at least deserve notification of their decision. I’ll let you know what they say tomorrow morning.

@Angeleno23 She applied for the same major as me, which is computer engineering… ;-( I asked her, but she said she mentioned, in her app, about liking computer and real experiences with the computer, but I’m pretty sure Cal state apps don’t have a writing portion of the application though…

Also, thanks for explaining waitlisted!

Guess I just need to send in an SIR for a college thay did accept me. I’m pretty sure I won’t have to pay the fee…

@sillyxnilly Interesting about your friend. She applied as a first-time freshman? CPP said that for the impacted engineering majors, including computer engineering, they were admitting students by “eligibility index.” This is your GPA (as calculated on the CSU Mentor application) multiplied by 800, then added to your SAT critical reading and SAT math scores (not the writing score). There’s more info here:

[Impacted Programs](http://dsa.csupomona.edu/admissions/impacted_programs.asp)

For these majors they said they weren’t considering where you live. With a GPA less than 3.0, even with awesome SAT scores it doesn’t seem like your friend’s EI would be that high. So maybe there was something else going on there? Maybe her GPA on the CSU app came out much better than her overall GPA that she remembered?

You’re right, there’s no essay on the CSU application, and they don’t consider extracurriculars, etc.

My eligibility index score is above 4000, but i was waitlisted
I applied for Mech. Eng.

So I called and told them that there was no change in my status. They told me that it was not a rejection but they say I am qualified and if any spots open up after may 1st I will get in. So I guess im on a non existing transfer waitlist. That being said I accepted SDSU’s offer.
If cal poly finally lets me in I probably won’t accept it. If this process is any indication of the nightmare admin would be at the school, i’m glad a I dodged that bullet. Ill be maxin and relaxin by the beach… peace.

Just called inquiring on my son’s “referred to impacted program” application status and when we could expect to hear from Cal Poly Pomona. Response from their Admission & Outreach office is that if we have not heard by now, we may not hear until much after May 1st and possibly well into May or even June 2013. I asked if this translated to being on the waiting list for transfer students, and the response was a clear “yes”. I also asked if my son accepted admission to a different CSU, would this remove him from consideration from their waitlist as he would still be interested in CPP, and the answer was, “no, but we would lose our deposit (to the other school).”

So, for all students in the “referred to impacted program” status, please be patient but also please be prepared with a backup plan just in case CPP is unable to admit you for Fall 2013. CPP deserves some credit for at least “trying” to get each and every student qualified into their program. Several students will decide NOT to attend CPP and this will open up spots for the rest of us. Just hang in there is my advice and good luck!

^what number did you call? i’m tired of going through 5 minutes of automated responses everytime I call admissions… the operator just directs me to admissions as well.

they repeat the office hours and address 3-4 times and it takes sooo long. i just want to talk to a person…

@Angeleno23 I confirmed with her and I think she isn’t actually accepted. So I calculated my EI and it’s 3766… Since @Dimas got waitlisted with above a 4000 eligibility index, I don’t have much hope lol

Some info for people: I also called the admissions office and she said I’ll have to wait for as long as June 15th to know if there is space for me to get accepted >__<

Dimas, how far above 4k?

@Silly lol thanx for the mention

@CollegeBound
Barely at about 4120
Im a FTF for Mech. Eng
What do you think?

Woah, they actually sent me an email. It basically said I’m on the wait list. Then, it said to send an email to them stating my name, bronco number, and a yes or no about staying on the wait list. Also, I’ll hear back from them late May.

@Dimas Np?? lol

when did you get the email @silly?
are you a First time Freshman for what major?

@Silly
Yeah i got the same email and replied back right away
I already submit to UCR also, my backup.
It was either UCSB or UCR. So difficult!
