I’m in the same boat and very depressed about it to be frank.

Has anyone found any information regarding acceptance vs. actual admittance rates? That might shed some light on waitlist chances here.

it’s for 2012 though but at least it gives you a ball park estimate.

If you are not waitlisted you can demand an answer. Try calling really early. I got one. Not the one I wanted but an answer nonetheless…

Is there any point in calling? We’re just gonna get the same answer
“wait until may 1st”
“wait until june 15th”

“wait until sept 21st… of 2143”

Ii actually pretty much fought with the lady on the phone telling her it’s not fair and that I just wanna know what’s up so I can move on. She took down my app number and I got my reply two.hours later.

My god, they actually got something done. It’s a miracle! Time to hoard their lines.

Yeah but I think I just ****ed them off cuz it was a denial :P

Chiffy may I ask what your stats were?

@Corgi

That’s a just the facts page. I don’t think it has the information I was looking for xD

But still, I don’t know why they would say that no one may get pulled off the waitlist. Of course there will be people not attending cal poly pomona.

Transfer from mt sac
Animal science
3.6 gpa all pre reqs done except one class
Got into UC Davis, Fresno, Cal Poly SLO, and Chico all for my intended major

Wait @chiffv you’re local? And they denied you? Oh gosh. I’m so confused. I don’t even know how to feel about CPP anymore … They’re the only ones I’m waiting for, and I don’t even know why. Haha

Yeah I’m a local but for impacted majors it doesn’t even matter. Honestly this has been like an abusive relationship. There are better things out there but yet CPP is where I wanna go! Why??? T.T

I too received a waitlist offer email Monday, and replied right away.

The number of spots opening up to waitlisted people will probably vary a lot by major. Some majors are not impacted, and more people just put in apps to them as a backup while aiming for other schools, so relatively more openings come up. Whereas the engineering majors are more competitive, and I suspect that more people who are offered admission accept it. But we’ll see --

The cutoff for the eligibility index that they accept will also vary by major, and will vary between the different engineering majors. I’ve mostly been watching first-time freshmen in MechE, as that’s that I am. Unless people post their GPA off the CSU Mentor application and their exact SAT critical reading and math scores it can be tough to figure out eligibility indexes, but one person posted that he was accepted in late March with a grade 9-11 academic GPA of 3.56 and an SAT CR + M of 1160. That would give him an EI of 4008. I’m thinking his CSU app GPA must have ended up higher. My EI is just shy of 4000.

In any event, best of luck to everyone.

I’m guessing CPP is trying to become more competitive this year and a lot more people are wanting to come to Cal Poly Pomona. I’d say that’s a good thing cuz frankly the only thing preventing an increase of reputation really is admitting low quality students in some areas. Of course it sucks to get denied, though. Each major has their own threshold and impacted majors can be harsh. When I was a transfer I followed Assist.org religiously to make sure I got in everywhere with all prereq’s satisfied. All. You have to take upper-divison synthesis classes here so there’s like no time to take classes you otherwise could’ve done at a CC if you want to finish quickly in two years.

on the note of prereqs, my friend just fulfilled the breadth requirements for CSU and got in no problem. he applied as a CS major and never took 1 programming class and doesn’t know anything about it.

me, on the other hand, completed all articulated cs courses available along with breadth reqs and will probably get rejected. -_-

I wouldn’t recommend that route your friend took, haha. It sounds like he’ll be at CPP for a long time.

I think 3.0 was the threshold for CS last year. Maybe a little lower. I just know that it seemed like 3.0 was what got you in. Maybe it’s different this year.

I just called in. Whoever did not get an email regarding waitlist yet and is has still not received an answer, you have been denied. According to admissions on the phone at 11:15 A.M

wow that really sucks. i thought that people who did not receive anything are on a transfer waitlist (according to people who called a few days ago)…

it would have been nice for pomona to at least send denial notifications so they don’t keep us waiting. i’m so ****ed!

Wow, **** you pomona.

3.3 gpa. I applied for Civil engineering.
