a friend from CC who was applying for chemical engineering which is an impacted program and just got accepted on Thursday. Her status was on “referred to impacted plan” for almost 2 months, maybe they are going thru the applications in alphabetic order… if i dont get accepted this week, ill have to accept CSU long beach…

If we accept another school, we can still change our mind right? even after May 1st?

Yes you can change your mind. They can’t FORCE you to attend. You will lose your deposit but it is small right now…
Go through the motions of the second choice and see what happens. Actually, wait till the end of the month before pushing that button. I spoke with admissions on Friday and they stated that they do not want what happend two years ago to happen again with the late admits all the way into June. And, they also said those that were that late were waitlisted specifically. If you are waitlisted, then you know you are on hold and will proceed accordingly.

AnnieOak - did Admissions indicate to you that they were behind on the process (as others have heard)?

And, can a student accept at one CSU and still remain on the waitlist for another? (I had heard that accepting at one school nullified all other admits)

@MimsMom: That’s a very specific question which would be better answered by a call to admissions rather than relying on the information from this forum.

As for everyone theorizing about what will happen, Stop. Seriously, you’re just working yourselves into frenzies, not to mention crapping on the dreams of those that still have hope. You may think you’re doing applicants a favor by showing them the truth, but you’re not. If anything you might be making some poor kid run off crying because now his/her dreams are dashed by someone spouting off on the internet about things they really know nothing about. So stop.

There’s still quite a bit of time before any enrollment deposits are due, and frankly by this point in the process you should already have your prospective schools ranked so that making a decision isn’t such an involved process.

They aren’t sending out rejections yet. They’re still sending out acceptances. I’m 95% sure that no one is at the school during the weekend, so I wouldn’t even bother checking BroncoDirect until Monday.

For those that are getting incredibly angry (I’m looking at you Dwarfdom) about how CPP is being so slow, and how they can’t treat applicants this way, there’s one incredibly important thing to consider in this situation. Money. All the schools have undergone extreme budget cuts and I’m sure that includes cuts to their administrative staff. So there are less people in that department doing the same amount of work as last year, AND to top it off, enrollments are up across the board at every single school.

In the meantime, take a deep breath, then take another. It will be ok. There’s still hope! Good luck to everyone! :)

@GGforuguys: Why do you have to decide this week? Doesn’t CSULB have the same May 1st deadline? If CPP is your first pick then I would advise waiting. If you’d rather go to CSULB then go for it. Otherwise you’re just throwing money away on a deposit to a school you might not attend.

@skwerlpoo I got into CSULB last week but my priority is CPP. Its just that this whole waiting is killing me…

Yes I agree, wait till the bitter end, you may know by then. Admissions told me they are trying to accomdate all of us that have to give answers to other institutions before the deadline. They said there were a lot of us. We got a letter from the Ag school stating they were admitting a little at a time till the end of the month. They do not want what happend in 2010 to happen again. I believe them. My daughter was not accpeted from some CSU’s up front, early in the game. The fact that they have not rejected her is a good sign. She is not applying for an impacted major, Ag…nutrition. Only 8% of the student population. Was accepted at other CSU’s, will go there if need be. CPP was her first choice though. A better program. Still, getting academic advisment tomorrow…going through the motions…

Obviously both applicants and their parents just want information. This is a place to trade information and find out if, for example, anyone’s BroncoDirect changed this weekend. People feel empowered when they have more information. It is better than sitting around feeling in the dark and clueless. Getting angry at this point is perfectly normal, maybe not productive, but understandable.

Is it the applicant’s fault that all the CA schools have had their budgets cut? No. Is it the fault of the the admissions offices? No. Should anyone be as pleased as punch about delayed admissions decisions? No. Should the schools like CPP do a better job notifying applicants about the issues? Yes. Does it take more than 10 minutes to update a webpage to inform students that admissions decisions are taking longer than normal due to increased numbers of applications and decreased number of spots? No.

Other schools in other states have done this. Nearly every college is reporting record numbers of applications while available spots are fewer than in past years. CPP could be doing a better job. Applicants shouldn’t have to be in the dark. Plus, if they put up a message on their site or sent an email, it would take less time and manpower than answering all the calls that are surely pouring in at this point.

Fact is the letters will come when they come. Hopefully they will be positive and come before May 1. Good luck.

@sp1775 I agree with the benefits of information. However it bothers me when others are spreading misinformation. One person posts something about how everyone is on the waitlist at this point and then there are a flurry of concerned posts afterwards. There’s no reason to get anyone’s hopes up or crush them unnecessarily.

You’re right though. I’m not sure why that post bothered me so much. I think it was because at this stage in the admissions process it shouldn’t take 10 days to make a decision. Maybe I’m oversimplifying it, but by now the applicant should know which school they really want to go to and have contingency plans if their first choice doesn’t work out.

At this point in time, while the enrollment deposit date is looming, there is still a great deal of time for decisions to be made. Maybe they are waiting until the last minute, but as long as the decisions come out prior to this date, I don’t see it as an excessively long wait.

@ggforuguys I completely understand about the waiting. But hang in there, there’s still hope. There’s no benefit (at least that I can see) to sending in your enrollment deposit early. Good luck!

@skwerlpoo Thanks for the support. These next 2 weeks are going to be crazy but you are right, the only thing we can do is hope for the best and stay calm. BTW what is your major?

Not to discourage anyone still waiting, but CPP had the third largest percentage increase in FTF applicants in the CSU after CSU Maritime (such a small school, it’s probably a fluke) and CSU East Bay.

On top of all the economic factors, I think there’s been a relative rise in interest in CPP I suspect due to it’s unique learn by doing approach making especially difficult to get admitted this year.

Does the EAP HAVE to be taken during summer? Or it can also be taken during school year?

I dont get why east bay is in that group, I feel like they are easy to get into

It’s monday; the week of truth (or as it seems). Good luck and hope everyone makes it in >_<

Like usual, no notifications. My friend and I want to dorm together but he’s waiting for me to get accepted. He’s already gotten accepted and wants to submit his housing form soon because it’s first come first serve right? Do you think he can request to dorm with me later on even after he submits the form?

two of my friends where accepted. One for Geology (2.6gpa 1490/2400 SAT) and the other for video production(2.8gpa 1220 SAT). Im still at “app recieved”

Well thats a little reassuring for me on the possibility of rejection. i have a 3.1 GPA and 1800 SAT.

@Jacob when did your friends get accepted?
