I know that the letter we receieved (if we're on waitlist) earlier said that waitlist decisions don't come out until middle of May, but it's almost middle of May, right?...
Anyone heard back yet??? (:

Not yet… :(

still haven’t heard anything…

Not a word.

Sooooo anxious.
Do any of you guys know people from previous years and when they found out? I heard that it wasn’t until June.

My daughter is a first-year student at Wellesley, and she was waitlisted. She heard last year on June 8.

oh wow, that’s not for a while then, i guess ><;;
the waiting game continues…
thanks collegequery for the info!

They called her on a Monday and she had until that Thursday at noon to accept or decline the offer.

I don’t know when they began calling, but I’m guessing it must be a very tedious process; depending on how many spots are available they must contact the students (ours was by telephone) and make offers, then wait for the responses, then if it’s declined they can contact another applicant, etc.

I am not sure what the correlation between Spring Open Campus attendance and the number of people accepting their spots, but there were a lot more prospective students at SOC this year than in previous years. Perhaps more people were keeping their options open and visiting many colleges this year. Perhaps more people were really considering attending Wellesley – if so, I don’t think many people will be accepted off the waitlist.

Even so, good luck to everyone on the waitlist. You’ll end up where you’re a good fit, and I hope you enjoy your college experience no matter what.

D is on the waitlist and recently sent in more materials; she rec’d a thank you letter from the Dean dated 5/5, indicating W did not know “at this time” whether it wld go to its waitlist. On the positive side, that’s better than knowing for certain they are not going to the waitlist.

Yes, in past years Wellesley has used its waitlist. At least it’s not like Amherst, which hasn’t used it’s waitlist in years.

Wow…
I sent in other materials too, but never received any thank you letter.
I guess that means I probably won’t be accepted.

I wldn’t read anything into that. Before May 1, they wld have had nothing to say at all re: WL since they didn’t know their yield. As the update materials were recently sent, they probably thought the timing wld be good to use a thank you letter as an opportunity to note that a decision on the WL was still not determined. Perhaps they hoped it might deter phone calls or e-mails to the admin office if that information got out.

Does anyone know for sure if Wellesley is even going to the wait list this year?

I just got an e-mail that said it was unlikely Wellesley will be going to the wait list this year but the final decision has not been made.

oh man i didnt even get an email - anyone else in the same boat? :(

I haven’t gotten an email either, but wouldn’t they be notifying all the waitlisted applicants if they had an official statement?

And, can someone please clarify the exact wording of the info. that was sent out?

I e-mailed the admissions office and asked them what is going on, that’s why I got an e-mail. This is what they said:

Thank you for your email. Jenn Desjarlais, the Dean of Admission and Financial Aid, has yet to make a final decision whether or not we will be accepting students from the wait list this year. However, truthfully, it seems unlikely that we will due so because of the high number of students who have enrolled at Wellesley for the fall.

If the dean decides that we will be able to accept waitlisted students, we will be making phone calls directly to students individually. However, if she decides that we are unable to accept waitlist students, we will be emailing everyone to inform them of that decision.

I still have not heard back either. However having said that, it is still such an honor to be on the waitlist. Luv it. :)

Hate to say it, ladies, but I really don’t think WC is going to its waitlist this year.
I’ve heard from an admissions rep that the class is already full.
