Anyone heard of UCLA vanpools??

I was looking up different options if I might commute to UCLA and I came across the school-operated vanpools (carpool type thing, but in a van). Anyone here has had experience with the vanpools?? Just wanted to gather opinions, before I even consider it:) Thanks!!

I was looking into it earlier. Seems a little expensive to pay that much a month.

do you know if this option is popular??

I’m not sure if they’re popular but I see them driving around Westwood.

The Santa Monica bus system is pretty good too and it’s $.25 per ride for UCLA students. A lot of the buses go up to the Hilgard terminal which is near all the classes.

do you know of any buses coming to the westlake/TO area??

saba5678- I always see those UCLA vans parked off of Rancho exit in Thousand Oaks. Have you seen that carpool lot? Well that’s where they are.

^^have you had any experience riding these?? Are they always waiting there for people to come?? lol

Westlake as in the westlake near downtown LA?

EDIT: Oh TO as in thousand oaks. does the vanpool go out that far?

Pretty sure there aren’t any buses. You’d probably need a car to commute since you’d need to take the 101 / 405.

no, westlake village, near TO and Newbury Park

I found a route from TO to UCLA, but it is legit?? Are there stops in the middle, etc, are the timings flexible…

http://www.transportation.ucla.edu/apps/gen_apps/vanpool/vans1.asp

It’s legit lol. The times don’t seem too flexible. I don’t think there’s any stops along the way but if the price is per quarter it’d be cheaper than driving.

I work in the Transfer Center at my CCC and spoke to one of the counselors that I work with about UCLA’s vanpool. He graduated from UCLA and used the service. He said that if living close to campus is not an option for you, vanpool is the next best option. Here are his reasons why:

Parking is EXPENSIVE and not everyone can get it.

You can study on the way to and from school.

It’s a great way to meet people.

It really saves the wear and tear on your car.

I plan on doing it if I decide to accept UCLA’s admission offer.

^^It will be cool if we see eachother…where will you be taking it at??

From the Norwalk/Cerritos area. I honestly don’t know if I will be going to UCLA though, their financial aid package is almost non-existant and I can’t afford it.
