So, i'm technically a Junior but I'm graduating a year earlier than normal. My early graduation wasn't really planned and i'd never really thought about going through with it. It all happened so quickly, legitly like 3 days, and now I'm set to grad in May! is that weird? Bad? And do many universities care/not like that? Plus, I just wanted to see if anyone else here was doing the same thing haha

Did you apply to colleges this year or are you taking a gap year?

I’m a senior. In Ohio it’s free for high school students to take college classes, so I finished my graduation requirements early and this year I’m a full-time university student. I still plan to spend four or five years in college after this, but I essentially got an extra year of college for free and hopefully some perspective on what I want to do with my life.

I’ve applied to a couple local Universities here in Hawaii but I still have to send in some of my test scores for the applications to fully proccess. I live near a 3-year uni so I was thinking to just go straight through, get my bachelors, and then go to Japan for my Masters…it’s not all set in stone yet, but it’s some sort of a plan.

I am on track to graduate in the winter, but our school wants 8 semesters out of us, no if ands, or buts. And no early-releases for qualifying seniors.

I’ll be over the required amount of credits, but my school doesn’t allow early graduation (no matter what). Sadly, there isn’t a local university at which I could take classes, either.

@Buggie111 That really sucks. Graduating early was really my mum’s idea and i thought, ‘what the heck? Might as well!’ And we pushed my slack, useless counselor to make the arrangements. By my sophmore year I had enough credits to grad aside from the mandatory english and social studies for my junior and senior years but now im completing those online. @Kitten23 My school doesn’t usually, but there was one kid that moved here in my freshman year that was set on Graduating early, and because he wasn’t from here, i dunno, our admin had to actually do something to help him? And so I kinda jumped on board with him hahah it’s like ‘Operation: Bust Outta High School!’ Haha and that’s another thing, with the local uni! My school doesnt allow students to go to the uni just down the street for credit! It’s dumb. And I think it has something to do with the fact that it’s a LDS church school but I don’t really know. It’s just really annoying.

Ah! You’re LDS! Do you happen to know anyone at BYU?

To swing this back on topic, yeah, my school likes its high USNWR ranking and wants to show that all kids max out in math, English, and the like. I’ve one-upped them and am taking 4 AP courses and self-studying for two more.

Haha yup! And I do, not many but some of my friends went up there because BYU-Hawaii was too close to home for them haha As for school, wow. My school is really slack and we don’t really have many options for AP classes anyway. But dang, 4? I’m only taking 2! And I’m contemplating taking the AP Japanese test but i dunno. Seems like a waste of time to me haha

Yeah, I’m considering Provo.

I am! my school doesnt give a damn if we graduate early, and i have enough credits so i’m graduating next year.

@Baka (omg xD): I’m curious, why are you graduating early? Did you complete all of the APs offered at your school or something? (thats the reason I’m graduating) Or do you just really hate your school and want to leave?

@Buggie that’s cool. Provo’s a good school, my mom went there. @piggybank and sweet! Haha I’ve done most of the APs my school offers and I’m honestly just bored. I want to just get a jumpstart on life so I can help out my mom (she’s a lot older than most parents and she’s a widow) Basically, I want to get into college and semi-stablize my life so I’m one less worry. and school’s a bore. I’m absent more than I go, i think. I love learning but hate school, kinda an annoying paradox hahah what about you? Anything aside from taking all the APs?

Why??? It’s free (“free”) education!

well, in my school we’re required to take at least 6 courses, so if i stay, i would be taking lots of random things like baking or extra gym classes. and i dont really care to graduate with my classmates or anything xD

Beware, BYU is practically a cult.

“Practically”? Everyone knows it’s a full-blown cult…

Cult?? For what?

…

For Brian Hoyer’s sake, let’s keep religion off the boards, alrighty? Kumbaya?

Just look into all the rules you have to follow at the college. Nothing like any other school.

It’s nothing too bad. I mean, only the coffee/tea stuff, as well as weekly-ish shaving is the only thing close to bad.

Ohhh you mean the honor code? Well, I guess to most it would seem weird and ‘cult’-like
