Anyone in Running Start?

Ibellibie thats cool that u get out in may. but have u already started school?

andreaaaaaa im in the same boat as u, but none ur prefered schools require a recommendation from a teacher who taught u in 11th or 12 grades only?

llpitch thats cool, so do the universities there look down on Running Start? or no?

oh i do running start full time but i also take a couple classes at high school.

We started school last Monday. We get out May 9th. What about you?

i start the fall quarter of college sept 24th, and grades come out dec 20th. i start high school on wednesday.

i started HS last wednesday. my college doesnt start until sept 17. Ibellibie are u goin to apply to UW for med school? i heard that it is the #1 med school in the nation. have any of u girls taken the SATs yet? if so9, what did u get? if u dont mind me asking

i took it without studying in june, and got about 2000. i am retaking in october and i will hopefully get 2200+.

My highschool (for my one class, French) doesn't start until September 12th.

As for med. schools....wow, I've not even began to think about which schools I'm interested in! I will definitely be applying to the UW though, because it's the closest med. school to my home, and obviously, it's a good one to.

Ugh, I haven't taken the SAT yet. I should have, but ended up waiting to crunch it in this fall. Taking in October and November. I'm taking the ACT the 15th, and if I get my target score (30) like I should, I may just not show up for the SAT. My practice tests for the ACT have been really good, and I really don't want to take the SAT as it is. I just like the ACT format, better, and since I'm not gunning for top schools...I don't care. The schools I'm interested in should take me with a 28-30 ACT score, and if I get anything less, it'll be because my brain didn't show up. :)

What about you?

Andrea, what's your major going to be?

good for you andreaaaaaa. As Ibellibie asked, what is going to be your major?

Ibellibie I am in the same situation as you, I should have already taken it, but I didnt. Thats cool that your taking the ACT, I didnt even consider it, I dont know why. Anyways, I heard that UW med school prefers students who attend undergraduate schools other than UW itself, because then they get more diversity. That is why I want to go to an out of state school for my undergrad, so I can come back home for graduate school

biology, but im not really pre-med. i want to be a genetic counselor, and you dont go to med school for that, you get a masters degree in genetic counseling. i also want to major in anthropology (biological).

ive heard that too.

I'd honestly consider taking the ACT to fall back on if I were you. It seems sooo much easier than the SAT for me, and I like how there is another section (science) to help you have a better composite score.

I think we should keep this thread going throughout the year. Running Starter's need their own space to voice complaints, and keep each other updated on our applications status.

A genetic counselor? I'm probably just being stupid here, but what would you do as a genetic counselor?

Ibellibie i believe, and correct me if im wrong here anderaaaaaa, that a genetic counselor is someone who helps with family planning by determining the chances that an infant born into family will have a defect, or whos genes it may have. dude im such a nerd, i wrote that w/o even looking it up. but its probably wrong lol

counsel people about their genetics, lol.

here is a website about it:

Oh wow, that's super cool! :) An interesting field to go into. Thanks for the enlightenment.

does anyone know how many credits running start will pay for?

please, anyone?

enough for u to get ur AA degree, so atleast 90

i mean per quarter though. do you know that?

18 credits

That AP class doesn’t sound like it’s doing a fair job. Anyone could simply sign up and expect the B plus. I only took AP World and AP Environmental.
