<p>I applied RD to Yale as film studies major... is anyone else in this forum pursuing film studies? If so, what kind of ec's (other than film club) have you done in regarding film?</p>

<p>My brother applied to that major I believe. We don't have a film club, but he has made several videos including our Cross Country team DVD, a commercial using Maya that got some award, and some other really good looking videos, cause he used a really nice HD camcorder and edited everything with Final Cut Pro/ after affects/etc cause bit torrent is awesome to get those things. He sent in a dvd with some videos on it. But don't feel that threatened, he has a 34 ACT, but only has a 3.6 or something (ranked like 50 in a class of 260 at a public school) so unless they really like his other stuff, he probably will get denied. He applied just for the hell of it I guess, but he also applied to Emerson, NYU, and USC Film School, so he should get in to Emerson at least.</p>

<p>funny....i use maya. i made a commercial using maya. i have a nice camcorder, edit everything with after affects, avid, etc. i wanna talk to him. now.</p>
<p>haha. His chances aren't great considering that 95% are in the top 10% of their class. He could get lucky and get in, but he isn't holding his breath and I certainly am not either. What was your commercial about?</p>
<p>anti-alcohol campaign for pre-teens. won small awards, but not the big national ones. I used maya to create 3D background and integrated live footage into it via green screen. It looks very very cheesy tho (considering that it's for middle schoolers..)</p>
<p>I am considering it. Columbia is another place you should look at. I am only a junior so I have lots of time.</p>
<p>What I have done:
1. LOTS of narrative and documentary filmmaking. Lots of scripts. Festivals and local arthouse screenings.
2. Film criticism. Lit Arts magazine, but I post alot on imdb LOL...
3. I founded my film club. President, etc
4. I have a job doing weddings and choir concerts. I did a baby shower once. By this i mean making highlight videos.</p>

<p>nhd = national history day documentary competitions....most recognized history research competition for high school kids</p>

<p>Directors cut - I dont understand you. First you list what you have done regarding film recently in other ivy league forums on cc and you indicate that you have not been in any festival or competitions and some posters recommend that you do so to validate what you have done in film, (ie. you have done local stuff) and now a few weeks later, you are posting that you have been a winner in film festivals.</p>
