<p>FIR was good back then, then my music taste changed into psychodelic songs and more fast beat rap about life and trying harder.</p>
<p>The bands i listed are koreans and japanese. Chinese music never caught onto me, and it’s really hard to find cantonese singers! I’m chinese too:P</p>

<p>I haven’t really heard any Asian non-Japanese bands/artists that I genuinely love. There are some good songs every here and there, but I haven’t found anyone as consistently great as these:</p>
<ul>
<li>Shiina Ringo / Tokyo Jihen (one of the most incredible musicians of all time - no hyperbole)</li>
<li>The Back Horn (raw, straightforward alternative rock at its finest)</li>
<li>Malice Mizer / Moi dix Mois (aesthetically perfect - the substance ain’t too bad either)</li>
<li>Mono (incredible post-rock band; probably unlike anything you’ve ever heard; a truly cinematic experience)</li>
</ul>
<p>Other Asian bands/artists I enjoy, including those that are mainly “ear candy”:
- Ellegarden (top-notch pop-punk)
- F.I.R. (better than most other Chinese pop)
- Kaela Kimura (quirky and original power pop)
- Perfume (irresistible…like musical cheesecake)
- Faye Wong (appreciate her charisma)
- Puffy (like the Beatles, but less annoying)
- Tommy heavenly6 (little artistic merit, but meh, I’m a sucker for good melodies)
- Loveholic (their self-titled song is perfect; the rest of their music pales in comparison)
- ChthoniC (seriously talented black metal band; as expected, most of their fans are outside of Asia)
- Chara (kickass & truly one-of-a-kind voice, not to mention she looks like a less intimidating [not to mention Asian] Angelina Jolie)
- Cheer Chen (“躺在你的衣柜” is one of my favorite songs of all time - FINALLY a Chinese song not afraid to be UGLY)</p>
<p>Also, can’t forget arguably the greatest Asian composer of all time - Tōru Takemitsu.
I have to be in the right mood, but when I’m in that mood, he’s perfect.</p>
<p>I really can’t stand most non-Japanese Asian music. Too much of it is simple pop music afraid to take chances or show any ugliness. But the pattern of poor countries producing sugary pop music (in order to console the poor from their physically exhaustive daily life, and to remind the “nouveau riche” of their success) and rich countries producing uglier, truer-to-the-real-human-condition music (in order to provide some edge and brashness to an otherwise sanitized and sterilized existence) is typical. South Korea is a notable exception. :x</p>
<p>Oh, and if it makes any difference, the only Asian blood in me is Chinese. :P</p>

<p>Yeah! Well if you’re talking about rock like Dir En Grey although I haven’t heard them in a while. Mono is great too, girugamesh, antic cafe, gazette, 176biz, etc. But Korean boy bands I like big bang, ft island, dbsk, etc. I’m not a huge fan of Taiwanese/Chinese boy bands; I prefer solo singers like Jay Chou, JJ Lin, Wilber Pan, etc</p>
<p>If I wanted to hear Asians, I would just go to my utensil drawers and drop them all over my floor. </p>
<p>Despite that, yeah, I listen to one or two Japanese bands. IOSYS is the first that comes to mind.</p>
