Wow! Yet another case of high stats and a rejection. Can’t believe it. AvgAsian, you have stats that are well above published averages. We can only speculate. My new guess is that since honors college is really inter-disciplinary program, they are looking to build a class with students wanting to major in different areas rather than the one dominated by science/engineering/business interests.

AvgAsian, I understand your disappointment. I am sure you will do well wherever you decide to go. I wish you all the best.

Son was accepted to UW but denied Honors program. However, he just found out he was accepted to Georgia Tech’s honors program. Good luck to everyone!

This is nice information for me, thanks! Do you know what her major is? I’ll be visiting WWU early April. I’m having trouble finding positive/negative comments on this school. However, my communications with this school have been outstanding. They just sent me an e-mail regarding scholarships. I’m hoping to get the WUE scholarship (I’m OOS).

I worry that Bellingham won’t have research, internship opportunities for a biology major. Also, I’m wondering how reputable their program is. I want to go to grad school, hopefully UW. Oh I just remembered something… someone told me that UW grad school admits primarily WA residents?? Is this true?

Any comments? Thanks and good luck to you!! I still love UW!!!
(I’ll stick to the topic from now on.)

To those who have received a letter accepting or denying them already, when did you apply? I applied for the Jan 15 deadline and am anxiously awaiting a letter from honors! Hopefully will come soon??

Probably won’t get in, but would like to know regardless!

I applied around 11/27, they got the letter of recommendation 1/8, I received “denied” letter 3/6. I’m now okay about rejected. Do you see those stats of those rejected??
My stats where okay, but it seems like they accepted those with brilliant essays. I tried my best on my essays but I don’t think they were brilliant.

Good Luck to you. If you’re in state, count yourself lucky to have UW. The UC’s are going through ugly, ugly times. Makes me nervous, if I end up in one.

lol I’m from california so I’m well aware of that!!! not good. I just got admitted to UW last week (ish) and am waiting on honors decision, with fingers crossed. (but based on the above, I most likely won’t get in. My essays were not very good).

If I WERE to get in to honors, UW would be my top top choice above any UC at this point! Only problem, of course, is the cost OOS :(

I was rejected from Honors. But that is okay - I have a lot of other great colleges to choose from.

3.78uw, 4.64w
34 ACT
Unique extracurriculars
I dont think I spent enough time on my essays. That seems to be the most important factor when applying for UW Honors.

stats copied from decision thread:

Hopefully this gives the rest of you some more hope, considering they accepted me with a 2090 and only 1 AP class prior to my senior year. However, I think I had very strong essays and a combination of extracurriculars that you don’t see very often.

i got into UW honors, and honestly, I wasn’t that impressed with what was offered. No guarantee at all for departmental honors, a requirement to take a certain number of honors credits yet no guarantees in getting however many classes you need because they fill up quickly…

i don’t think im going to do it… im sure it’s a high quality program, but it was just a little to “program” and not enough “college”. i was hoping for some decent perks…

acceptance letter received yesterday! i had low scores (30) and no really remarkable extracurriculars so i was very surprised. i think it was my letter of rec and my essays that helped me.

thank you!! i’ve always been hesitant about uw because i live very close to it, but this makes me a lot more interested. i’m still waiting to hear from my top choices/financial aid offers from them, but uw is definitely a consideration now

Just got my rejection letter. I had a 3.95 and a 34 on my ACT… good recs and a thought-out essay. Not sure why, but I’ll probably go to UW anyway.
