Anyone into UW Honors yet?

I don’t think stats from previous years are helpful in predicting how many people are going to be selected from wait-list for either general admission or admission to honors program. My gut feeling is that chances of getting in to honors program from wait-list is a lot higher than getting general admission from wait-list. I think this is an opportunity for you to submit additional material and tell them why you belong there. Wish you good luck!

For the people accepted into the UW Honors Program Do you guys live in the state of Washington?

and did anyone also get a wait list letter? should i consider that a complete rejection?

@swtdecember - I know many in state people who got into honors, but I know of some OOS who got in, too.

A few classmates of mine have received wait list letters.

Applied Jan 15, haven’t received a letter yet. I live in CA. Should I expect one soon?

@limabean22 - Probably. They’ve already handed out waitlists and rejection letters. However, I know someone who got in last friday. That means that if you haven’t gotten a letter yet, they’re probably still considering you for acceptance. :)

still waiting :frowning: Literally have been waiting at the mailbox for the past couple of days. If I do get into the honors, UW will be my first choice by far!

limabean, I totally know how you feel. mailman probably thinks im stalking him >.< lol
but I actually called the UW Honors and asked for my status.
After I told her my name, there was a long pause. She said, “Oh, we’re still reading your application. So it will take another week or so.”

:(

haha about the mailman. Mine too probably!

Good luck! I hope we both find out soon!

I have a 4.0, no life, ALL extra curricular and DIDNT GET IN…■■■

Wow, Goldenglaze100. Mind if I ask what your test score stats were? What extra curriculars did you do? What were your essays on?

Goldenglaze- I"m really sorry, That sucks :frowning: Lol, and this means I probably won’t get in either. :frowning: oh well. i just wish i would get the dang letter… it still hasn’t come yet!

Are you a washington resident or out of state?

Yeah, Goldenglaze100 I’m also curious about your essay. If you don’t mind pasting it on here, I would love to see what a 4.0’s composition looks like.

No pun intended

I really don’t feel comfortable posting my essay on here.
As for test scores, 2350 on SAT. solid if i may say so.
Subject tests: Bio: 740 Math II: 770
Extracurriculars include:
pres. of honor society
student senator
volunteer at hospital
8 APs (the hard ones)
robotics
tutor at my local daycare/volunteer there

once again ■■■…

oh and im washington resident…

yes fyl. i got into uw honors with a 3.0. my sat scores arn’t amazing either.

Goldenglaze, wow. that is absolutely crazy. I can not believe you didn’t get in, your stats are awesome! And quite a bit better than mine… looks like i can look forward to a rejection as well :(

Where else have you applied besides UW?

limabean, I wouldn’t count on rejection just yet- uw honors admissions are really unpredictable. The average accepted SAT is about 300 points lower than goldenglaze’s; I think once you have decent grades/scores/ECs there’s no way to tell without seeing the essays and knowing what the admissions office had in mind. (and btw goldenglaze, I agree it’s probably best not to post essays on an internet forum)

@goldenglaze - Essays on a forum is indeed iffy, but could you give a one sentence summary about them? For example, “One essay was about my career choice.”

Well it was in the style of a newspaper article and was about pursuing my career in journalism…basically it was super legit

Oh and some other schools I applied to and have been accepted are Berkeley (just today!), Claremont Mckenna College and NYU (also today!) *** UW…
