are there any summer classes for people that are failures in the subject of math... tutoring, or formal classes in anything related to calculus or college algebra. i somehow placed into intro to mathematical analysis, but i dropped bc calculus and feel uneasy about taking the course, so are there any summer programs to teach me what i need to know either online or in the state of IL near chicago?

what is analysis? is it just harder calculus

In some high schools in my state, “analysis” is the name for the course that most high schools around the country would call “precalculus” or “algebra III.” That is, it is a course that precedes a calculus course. In many colleges and universities, there is a course called (usually) “real analysis,” which would definitely have successful completion of a calculus sequence as a normal prerequisite.

I’d like to help you with details about how to find a summer course to boost your math skills, but that is probably local information, maybe best found from local sources such as your school district offices or state department of education. That’s a good use of a summer, to build skills in a subject (math) that is a gate-keeper for so many other subjects (science, medicine, business, etc.).

Good luck. Ask follow-up questions as needed.

thank you, i will ask around and see if there are math courses during the summer here in chicago
