Anyone know about the new 2015 MCAT?

<p>I have heard that the MCAT has been changed for 2015</p>

<p>I'm just wondering one thing though, who will have to take this test?</p>

<p>I plan on taking it in the spring of 2014, so that means I will be taking the old MCAT and then applying for the Fall of 2015...</p>

<p>So then, I wonder how long med schools will accept the old MCAT scores for? </p>

<p>If someone was to wait a gap year and apply for 2016 instead of 2015, would they have to take the new MCAT or would Med schools accept the old MCAT scores for a certain time period and compare them to the applicants who submitted the new format MCAT scores?</p>

<p>How will these changes work out? I think the incoming Freshmen in the fall of 2012 will be affected by this.....</p>

<p>The assistant senior dean for NYU med school said that in his experience with the AAMC they rarely keep their deadlines and he expects the real date to be more like 2017. </p>

<p>Also, all MCAT scores qualify for up to three years</p>

<p>“What will be different about the MCAT exam in 2013 and 2014?
If you plan to take the MCAT exam in 2013 or 2014, please note that the Writing Sample section will no longer be part of the exam. In its place, a voluntary, unscored trial section will be added to the MCAT exam starting in January 2013. These unscored questions within this trial section will come from one of the content areas that will be added to MCAT in 2015. These include psychology, sociology, and biochemistry. Including the trial section, the 2013 and 2014 total testing times will be the same as 2012. Examinees that volunteer to participate, and put forth a good faith effort, will be compensated. Please note that admissions officers will continue to receive Writing Sample scores from exams taken in 2012 and prior.”

<p>I’m still confused what they are trying to do with the new MCAT and 2013 and 2014 :(</p>

<p>Based on what the statement says, it seems like the AAMC plans to remove the writing section for the exams given in 2013 and substitute an ungraded section used for statistics and data for the 2014/2015 exam for the question content and difficulty. For the new 2015 exam, they want to add more social science based sections. I hope this clears it up a little.</p>
