News: Revamping MCAT and Pre-Med Education - Inside Higher Ed

Nothing is official yet, this we know.
Also, it says FOR 2015, meaning the class of '15 almost definitely will have taken it by the end of 2014.

If anyone should be worried, it should be for the classes of '16 and '17 (if it does pass).

I’m class of 2017, will I get to take this? I really would prefer this since science and math are my strong suits (social science is great to for me actually) and I am awful at writing which would be eliminated. The way I see it this will just help to bump up my score compared to what it will do to all others taking the test. Also, when will the vote on whether or not they’re going to change it?

See this article in yesterday’s Harvard Crimson:

The AAMC website has a news release about the recommended change to the MCAT. On the right hand side of this website is a link to the .pdf document with the actual preliminary recommendations.

So, a student who will be graduating from college in 2013 (taking the MCAT in 2012) will still take the current MCAT?

That’s a relief. I don’t know how long it will take the Kaplan-like prep classes to adjust to a new test for prep.

yes class of 2013 will be fine.

im sure those test prep companies are already working on revamping their materials
