Looking at this as a strong option for a bachelors degree, except its hard to find a school with this program, since it seems to be relatively new. Does anyone know of a school that has this major, or a similar one with a combination of business and environmental classes? Thanks!

Northeastern

[Sustainable Business Practices - Northeastern University College of Business Administration](http://www.cba.neu.edu/ugrad/minor/interdisciplinary-minors/sustainable_business_practices/)

Awesome! thanks for the replies! I’ll definitely look into that more. Anyone know of a sustainable business type program more on the west coast/south west (preferably California)?

University of Oregon, in Eugene, has a lot of sustainability-related courses - and is a focus for their MBA program. I’m not sure about an actual undergrad major though. ALOT of CA students go there too.

Regardless of whether there is a major, I think you can get the type of classes & extracurriculars you’re interested in at UO. They’re constantly going up to Portland & various events for sustainablility conferences, presentations…etc (not a big suprise, being oregon and all).

what assist.org (a site for looking up majors and curriculum at all public california colleges) turns up for “sustainable”:

Environmental Studies B.A. - Sustainable Resource Management (CSUEB)
Environmental Studies B.S. Concentration in Science and Sustainable Communities (CSUMB)
Recreation Administration B.S. with Emphasis in Sustainable Tourism Management (SDSU)
Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems B.S. (UCD)
Sustainable Manufacturing B.S. (CSUC)

If you search “environmental” there are some management-oriented majors as well.

Better question: what is a sustainable business program? What would such a program teach? What kind of research would the faculty do? What skills would a student gain from this program?

Thanks for the help everyone, Ya I’ll definitely look into the university of Oregon, and ya those environmentally related majors listed are also eye openers for me. I’ve researched, and a few of those are kind of new to me. And to answer your question noimagination, the ideal program I’m looking for would be a mix between environmental classes (environmental studies) and a business degree. And the part about what skills would I learn is a good point. I know alot of older people I talk to say that the market is becoming more about skills, rather than just having a degree. The main reason I wanted to get it was because I have an interest in social business and also have an interest in the environmental field, but I feel I need to explore the environmental field more because I don’t have any definite specific area of that field to aim towards yet. In other worlds, I haven’t found my niche in that field.
