these stats DO NOT mean a 10% acceptance rate. schools accept many more than they want to have in their entering class because they know not everyone will accept. the percentage of those accepted who decide to enroll is the “yield” – trying to figure out what the yield will be is one of the essential things admissions officers have to do – because if they are wrong, they end up with either a very overcrowded freshman class or a smaller than desired freshman class.

schools like to present numbers like those above because it makes them sound very selective, but unless you know how many they had to accept to hit their target class size, you don’t really know what the acceptance rate is. how a school gets from the number of applications to the number in their entering class is a result of both the acceptance rate and the yield.

(just want to add- from the binghamton sites i with admissions stats – i’m not sure how transfer admissions figure into their numbers - ie when they’re included and when not)

capwoo - I’m sorry but you will just have to be patient. I do not believe that it is a rejection or waitlist if you haven’t heard yet. Bing is a rolling admissions and you will hear when you hear. I am a student so I have no say in your acceptance. Nick was the right person to speak to so you just have to wait at this point.

Hey helpsearch~ How good is Drexel University? I did not even apply to Drexel and they sent me a letter regaring scholarship. How good is Drexel for Accounting majors?

Hyper: are you actually tranferring from gray and gloomy to grayer and gloomier? jk…good luck if you get into Bing!! (aren’t you communications though? or am I mistaken?)

Occupational Therapy, actually, but I decided I wanted to do engineering, hence the transfer.

I have a soft spot in my heart for Bingotown. I grew up in the area, so I’m perfectly accustomed to its level of gloominess. Whenever I’m in direct sunlight I feel like I’m going to combust. :)

And thanks for the luck. I’m going to need it at this point.
