I sent in my commitment and deposit to Scripps about a week and a half ago but I still haven't gotten any sort of reply yet--nothing about housing or enrollment or anything. When are we supposed to receive a reply after mailing in the deposit?

I'm afraid mine might have gotten lost in the mail, unless this is normal, because my friends who're going to other schools have already gotten things like housing and orientation information, while here on the Scripps front I've got nothing so far.

My daughter got a confirmation about a week ago, but she sent in the deposit within a week of getting her acceptance.

I got a letter confirming my deposit about a week ago.

Okay thanks! So I’m guessing it’s because I sent it in so late that I haven’t got anything yet.

My daughter turned in her deposit at SADIOS but didn’t get a reply until after May 1st. I think they said housing requests/info will be sent in the summer, and you choose courses with your advisor at first year orientation. We’ve heard it is hard to get into fine arts classes, so that may be an issue with signing up after all the other undergrads, but otherwise I don’t think it will hurt your first year schedule to choose courses in August. Although I don’t know how it will affect taking courses at other Claremont Colleges, especially if you have advanced standing and aren’t just taking first year courses.

Ok, so this I hate to break to you-- you will know almost nothing about housing, roommates, classes, etc, etc. until a really long time after most of your friends already have their stuff figured out. It’s frustrating (and scary), I know, and not what you would assume given that Scripps is such a small school. Scripps is working to make more stuff online, and therefore faster, but the good news about this epicly long waiting period is that when you finally get the information about your room and roommates, it’s because a handful of student-life staff have thoughtfully considered your replies on the housing questionnaire, and done their best to room you with similar souls (unlike the random placing of most large universities).

You should get a confirmation, as others have said, post-deposit, but if you sent it in close to the deadline, it may take awhile (given the pile that usually comes in at the last minute). If you are worried that yours may have gotten lost in the mail, definitely call. It should only take a minute to check if they’ve received your payment.

After getting the confirmation for your deposit, your point of contact at Scripps will no longer be that admissions office. As an incoming student, most of the questions you’ll have will probably fall to SARLO (Student Activities and Residential Life), though they tend to be less efficient at getting information out to students (shh! you didn’t hear that from me!). Students here and on the Facebook group will remain a really good source for questions that come over the course of the summer, or you can contact the SARLO office. They’re contact information (and the orientation schedule) is here: [Scripps College : New Student Orientation](Campus Life | Scripps College in Claremont, California)

All returning students have already registered for classes, so if you have OCD traits like me and want to know what courses still have spots for registration in the fall, you can take a look at the publicly available course schedule, here: https://portal.claremontmckenna.edu/ICS/Course_Schedule/

We received the confirmation letter today (in southern CA.) I’m sure we were among the very last people to send in the postcard and pay the deposit.

It said the housing info would be sent “later in the summer.”
