I’d guess January or February…it all depends on the strength of your application and the number of people they have to wade through!

FullMetalx @cosmos since you are in the top 2% of your class I say you have a good chance.

I dont think so. The thing is that my SAT is a 1610/2400 ,Which sucks and could destroy all my chances. My extracurriculars are ok I guess. :(

I applied to bhp on the 14th or 15th of October and I was just wondering how the notification process works. I don’t see anything on the website, but I got a missed called from Texas (i’m out of state) this past weekend and I’m curious as to what that phone call could’ve been for. Does an alumni still call if you get rejected? And was this posted on MyStatus asap for y’all?

I applied to UT in August and Honors in early October. I was accepted to Plan II and McCombs, but rejected by BHP. I was a little surprised since Plan II is harder to get into.

If you have not heard from BHP yet, you were probably rejected - they only give acceptances by phone and were supposed to be done by now. It is not put on MyStatus.

I guess I’ll just call the number I got the missed call from and hope for the best then. Thanks so much for the info!

Since the bulk of admission offers have already been made to the auto admits; any places left for non-auto admit Texans, OOS and International applicants would be only a few. I guess the admission decisions for these limited places should not take long time. The last date for application was Nov 30. I don’t know why we have to wait till March 1 (3 months) !!

While UT does automatically accept those within the top 8%, that will only fill up ~75% of the incoming freshman class. Not to mention, that many of these auto-admit kids are exceptionally qualified and will choose to attend other schools. With that said, and the fact that the average freshmen class being 7000-8000, 25% gives roughly 1750-2000 spots. That’s quite a bit, and with UT receiving around 25-30k applications, they take their time to HOLISTICALLY select the best candidates for acceptance, and then also other candidates to be put on the waitlist because it’s inevitable that students will deny UT’s offer of admission.

Anyways, UT tries their best to get back to applicants as soon as possible, but they take their time to review everyone’s application.

Anyways, 3 months isn’t too long. Just enjoy your senior year and everything will fall in place.

I applied the last week of October and heard back about two weeks later. However, I’m from Texas and an automatic admit.

Still haven’t heard anything from McCombs yet. :(I think I’m getting rejected. :(

@cosmos
I’m getting pretty worried too. Hopefully we will find out soon.

For all those who are not automatic admit i just called and the woman said we should all know from mid to late february

I applied literally the day it was due, December 1st, and I just received an offer of admission for both Plan II and Liberal Arts Honors! I’m an auto-admit, but I’m surprised that I heard back so quickly…

Anyone else into Plan II? If so, PM me. I’d love to talk to you about it.

I applied to UT literally two days before the deadline and received my offer of admission. I am awaiting news from the Engineering School. I hope you get it!

I’m still dying waiting for my major admission while most of my friends got theirs already Geez I’m stressing out now. :(

Any OOS regular decision applicants hear anything yet? And please explain what an auto admit is. Thanks.

“Auto admits” refers to in-state applicants who are automatically admitted to the university because they rank in the top 8% of their class. It is due to the state law. Admission to a major is not automatic, however. And many majors (e.g., chemical and petroleum engineering, business, etc.) are very competitive.

Thanks Goldtx. Sounds like UT will be full of a lot of smart Texans! Does anyone have info on OOS students getting housing, rushing and how they get along there being only 25% of the population? I am concerned my West Coast kid might not fit in to the Texan group. And I hear the auto admits get first crack at housing?

Austin is very diverse and probably the most liberal city in Texas. I wouldn’t worry about a West Coast kid not able to fit in.

Housing is on a “first come first served” basis, and the order is determined based on when a student or applicant paid the $50 application fee. Since an applicant can pay the fee only after he/she receives an admission (to the university, not major) decision, it makes sense that the majority of the “early birds” are auto-admits.

Actually you can pay your $50 deposit BEFORE your admitted. You just have to be done applying. I paid mine in September after I finished my application and did not receive my auto acceptance till later.

I noticed this morning that D’s status changed from “in review” to “complete.” Anybody else see this? Better yet, did anybody see this happen last month, and have you since received word on acceptance? Please respond with In- or out of state, automatic acceptance or not. Thanks!
