I’m going to school for the summer right now and I barely had enough to cover my rent. I had to take out the 500 dollar Emergency Cash Loan, TWICE! Only now, like today, they notified me that I’ve just now been approved for a 1000 dollar subsidized loan since I’m classified as a sophomore.

Good thing I only needed one textbook for my classes. God forbid if I would have needed an iClicker or more books.

Screw this though. Next summer I’m attending ACC for summer classes. Cheaper, way cheaper.

Tell them WTH! They’re bringing a whole new meaning to the ‘‘starving college student’’ idea and we should not have to suffer this way.

After talking with the people at SSB, my counselor actually gave me Work Study! Wow, some financial aid finally! :D

sasha2014 - Haha, I’m taking some history courses at ACC. WAY cheaper than at UT. Hopefully you and the others will receive something good soon!

I spoke to some lady in the financial aid office and she told me that there are many students whose aid has been flagged for some reason or another and must be reviewed by people before being sent out. There are just under 1000 students who have been flagged for review, including me and probably others here who are still waiting. No time table given on when it would be completed. The wait is very frustrating. If things turn out badly, there will be very little time to try and fix it or find other alternatives.

What’s this I hear about UT not being generous with money? I got a damn good deal on my Financial Aid Offer that includes scholarships and grant money.

Thanks a lot, MaineLonghorn. I have no intentions of bragging or rubbing it into anyone’s face. I’m simply curious to know about this “reputation” UT has about it’s financial aid.
